and as tyo rain hats, I did run some turkey roasting aluminum pans from the grocery store for a time.  But, I was able to go full upgrade to gen-U-ine rain hats, courtesy of I-don't-know-who at a Carlisle raffle.  recently these have been painted to match my also recently painted fan shroud.  Overall, works and looks better than the turkey pans.  If ya wnna see how all that turned out, come to Calrlisle.

So, more importantly for the upcoming Carlisle and West Coast trips....

If you used a new, un-drilled or messed up roasting pan and placed it open side up over the exhaust on the rear shelf behind the engine, and plopped an "Oven Stuffer Roaster" chicken in it, I wonder how many miles one would have to drive before the chicken was ready to eat.

This might be a crucial test for all of those potential "Iron Butt" Speedster drivers motoring to Carlisle.  I wonder if "Martha Stuart" or Guy Fierri might weigh in on this??  Get your roaster bag going before you get gas in the morning, and your "Italian Herb" Chicken might be ready for dinner at Christiansburg!

I would think that some sort of a "Dutch Oven" might be a good idea, even if made from a couple of roaster pans, just to hold the heat in better.  We might have to experiment with this.....But the potential is endless - BBQ ribs, anyone??

It's a Boy !

Today at 12:31 pm, Merklin MotorWorks with the help of Mid-Wife Connie, assisted in birthing  # 36 .... 1,450 pounds - 2 ozs. Length approx: 13' 1"  and of course the tail pipe confirms.... it's a Boy. Minor adjustments, timing, carb set up and engine tin rattle, ...." we cut the cord "....  and a few trips around the neighborhood were successful without any noticeable peeing.  Decided I'll lower the front with 1.5 drop spindles and ordered them today. The rear will also get the same 2.5 drop via torsion adjustment. The final buffing is scheduled for tomorrow night.

This was not  a total build by far, just a pull apart, check things over, paint etc.  and dress it up some....Pics tomorrow pm

Put it in a plastic bag and fill the bag with rice, seal it up for a couple days, keyboard should be fine. With the price of rice it might be cheaper to get a new keyboard. Did that with an iPhone that fell in the water and it worked.  Should work for the keyboard.

Alan,

You crack me up: "Just  little cleaning up and refurb job here, no biggie."  Riiiiight.  We have eyes, we can see what you've done here, and while not a "complete build" this is a major make-over.  My bet is the PO would not recognize the car if it was parked in his driveway.

Congrats on a clean birth.  And please see what you can do to have this new cream puff at Carlisle.  Would love to see it in person.  And . . .

WE NEED PICTURES!!!!

Photos this weekend for sure .

I work long days folks and my time is limited to about 2.5 hours in the evenings to have dinner, paperwork, log book tally, daily IFTA fuel & mileage reports, scan and copies, etc. etc. before I have to hit the sack and reset for another 450 mile fun filled day. Then find some time to wrench on weekends . The car has been at the body shop the last few days for a final color sand and buff, just got it back tonight and it's... brilliant ~    Photos this weekend for sure .

Turned the super bright LED tail lights 180 degrees for a much better look, tossed the plug wires that keep slidinging off the plugs in favor of a better grade that were "in stock = a box"

Did a 2nd dial in on the timing and carb then we went for a short ride.

Tomorrow, I'll take a few pics before I disassemble the front suspension to be ready for the 2 1/2" drop spindles due here Monday or so. I have 225 50 15's on the front and not sure if I'll have a rub problem.

Just ordered a Miata stainless steel double hoop roll bar that will get a hand brushed finish...not sure how it will go with the car, we'll see if it will work with the mostly blacked out car if not on the shelf it will go.

Still waiting on a replacement electric door solenoid for 3 weeks now.
