Technostalgia Rapid Fire .... is the tail light brand I use, it has a unique rapid fire i.e. 4 quick light pulses before the brake light stays on.
A few pics and a short video that you'll have to crank your head to see......
Spent a long 2 1/2 hours getting the front trunk latch installed and operate right and disassembled the front suspension for the CIP1 drop spindles that will get here tomorrow. Should button up the odds and ends next weekend.
Looks good Alan. I had to turn my monitor sideways to watch the video though.
Mr. McEwen, I felt guilty and took the crook out of your neck :~)

Thanks Alan.
Looks sweet & Sounded great!
Another master piece!
How much more area does that bulkhead grill give you for cooling? That looks to be the same area as the old VW sedan grill above the engine cover.
Very nice, dude......
Very nice! I really like the changes done on it. I think the only thing two things I'd do is to add a set of front and rear nerf bars...and forgive me, paint it, say Guards Red...love black cars just do not like taking car of them, they always seem to attract dirt and dust...clean and wax them let 'em sit for a couple hours and they look like they need to be cleaned again.
Bulkhead grill is a bit less in Sq. In. but I have add'l cooling area in the engine
Guards red? Baah!
Black takes a whole lot more body prep than other colors as it shows all defects. Black is more difficult to keep clean - but a Speedster isn't big. Alan has had his share of resale red. I like #36. Think Alan said seats were black suede so should be grippy to posterior.
The seats that were black suede didn't look good so I went with another choice.
Orig sideways video has an aspect ratio problem -- car looks to be about 20 feet long. -?- Anyway, this is really cool looking. "Honey, do these flared fenders make my ass look big?" Yes indeed they do. Are there plans for bumpers of some kind? All that shiny FG looks very exposed out there. And the filled in engine hood is the bomb. Gives it a whole other look. Can we see the interior too, please??
Nicely done, Alan. Your style sense is very good. I think the chrome show bar will work with the chrome wheels. Can't wait to see it in person.
Everything in the interior that was chrome was hand brushed ( green scuffy pads) to give it a toned down satin look. I'll need to do the same on the roll bar again, by hand....wheels are polished aluminum and not as brilliant as chrome.
Just installed the 2 1/2" drop spindles this afternoon back out on the road for the next 4 days then back to the Still To Do List this weekend.
Dropping the car will finish off the killer stance. Great job buddy!
Paint or powder coat on the trim?
Trim: black basecoat with a special hard clear made by Eastwood.
Alan
I think everyone on this site is to some degree in awe of what you can do with a car.
Truly amazing.
Alan- If you're putting a roll bar in, think about having the top of the bar curved slightly. A bar with a flat top just doesn't look quite right, as there isn't a flat surface anywhere on these cars. Al Shapiro told me the bar in Ruby has a 7/8" rise from the sides to the middle and it matches the curvature of the top of the windshield, so anything close (3/4-1") will look right. RonO's car also has a roll bar with a slightly curved top and looks like it belongs
In the first 2 pics you can see that the flat top of the bar doesn't quite flow with the rest of the car, and sticks out. On the other hand, the roll bar in Ruby and RonO's car just "fits", and looks like it should be there
"Oh Ruby, don't take your love to town . . ."
I LOVE that car. One of the best Speedsters ever made.
I like Ruby too. And Ron's car looks sweet, a different, but GREAT color!
Nice comparison on the bars, Al. That's why mine is removable for the street, but installed on the track. It isn't very complimentary looks-wise, but functional. I don't have any pics of it installed, I'll have to take a couple.
Alan, this ride looks good, can't wait to see it in the flesh!
Thanks!
A half day or so yet to go, here's where I am at....
Need to switch out the Kumho 225 50 50 front tires for 205 50 15's (light rub on hard turns) Decent plug wire set, replace a E' Brake hardware clip left rear, E brake boot ,fabricate some motor to frame tin work, need to put 30 - 40 shake down miles on it and a final detailing~
Oh man, you are CLOSE. Congrats, of course, and try to keep it between the lines . . .
Fabricated the engine to frame tins, installed the Miata stainless steel double hoop roll-show bar and mounted the smaller front tires today...waiting on E' brake hardware and replacement mirror which, I managed to drop and break today.
Aren't you done yet?
Replicas are never .....done . Come the end of a work day you empty your jeans pockets only to discover those nuts bolts or washers you were hunting for.
I've had mine for almost nine (!) years now and the list of things I could do is no shorter now than back then.

Or you might even find a few extra dollars to put in your jar to buy another new part.
99% done, runs and drives well....need to lower the rear 2" and get the quater boot altered to fit against the show roll bar. Connie and I will see youz' all at Carlisle !
Those "quater" boots are always a pia! ;-)
NJ accent... Paul :~)
Any updated pic's of the finally? I like car ****!
As of 10:30 am TODAY, "Stick a fork in it and call #36 done" !
Time for a celebration and a brew.
Another Dr. Clock masterpiece is ready for the road.
See you at Carlisle!
