There are no hard and fast rules.  Like most of the Speedster stuff, what works for you is what you should get.  Most owners like either 5 or 6" lights, some like round, some rectangular.  Fog lights usually have yellow lenses with a wide coverage area, while driving lights are usually clear with a narrow beam.  Hella, Cibie, and Pitta (sp?) are popular brands.  Google "driving lights" and you'll have lots of pages pop up.  Good hunting!

There are also 5 3/4" MARCHAL 670/680 Fog Lights available.  Here's link to some (assume reproductions) on ebay for $240 out the door.  They come with yellow or white bulbs.

Same lights appear to be 2x $ elsewhere.

PIA is the other brand mentioned.  The ones on Ruby are classic and have a real story behind them if I recall. What a gorgeous car!

Two things to consider:  What looks good and what lights good.  Sometimes they both converge, and sometimes they don't.

There is a good Marchal reproduction out there, both driving and fog, the Hellas make great light but are a bit "modern" for a 356 and then there are a bunch of original and reproduction "period" lights that don't light up the road ahead worth a damn.

i would suggest wading through the pictures on this site and see what looks interesting and then contact either the car's owner or the builders (IM, VS, Beck, etc) to see if they offer anything.  Some of the aftermarket sites have fog and driving lights and the last source is ebay.

just as an FYI if you are considering these - the replacement lenses are $$$$$.  i had a rock shatter mine last summer and i think i ended up paying like $70 for one lens.  those guards would have proved very useful.

Cranky FL guy - hummph! Oh, you mean the ebay seller!

Re-read this thread and realized question was about driving lights and all but MusbJim pointed SOCer to fog lights!  The FL guy also has the long reaching Marchal driving lights - vs the flat short fog lights. I had an new 1967 Opel Kadette Rallye which came with fog lamps - I added Lucas Driving lamps.  Was in college in southern VA and running both at same time really lit up the windy country roads (although I doubt legally). Shame he doesn't sell one of each as a pair.
