Folks,

Need info quick. Somewhere along the line I got attached picture of driving lights. I have asked JPS to install similar, and now we do not know what make/model or where to get this sort of light, w/ a grille attached as shown. Anybody out there (A) recall this picture, and know whose car it is? (B) know about these lights, and where to get some? Any help appreciated.

You might forward this picture as an attachment to a few regulars 356 parts sellers on eBay. 'Ferrysheritage' comes to mind, he has quite an assortment of cool things. There's a guy that sells stuff out of the Carmel, CA area, if I think of his ebay title I'll post it... You might pose the question to Michael Keil, he sells mostly badges on eBay but seems to be another European source for cool stuff. There's a seller that uses the name 'cmartinperez' that occasionally gets unique items and some reproduction stuff. There are also some websites dedicated to rally items, you might nose around there and don't exclude other auto marques as you look for classic gear.
Those are Jim Wards lights. He has posted many pics with them. I bought the same lights from a fellow in Germany. I have to look up the sale, but they cost me over $500. People like them and bid them up accordingly. Henry is painting the housing to match my car and leaving the grills and ring surround chrome. Jim did his all chrome. They are Hella's from I believe the late 50' early sixties. They are around but you have to LOOK for them. I've seen several on E-bay over the last year or so. Good luck!
Paul, Howard,

Thanks mucho for the tips and leads for where to find. $500 is a bit steep. After only a quick look through the current Hella products, I do not see anything like these grilles included nowadays; they have some really good lamps, that I am sure would light up the night, but nothing w/ the grilles, that I can see. I am having these kinds of grilles installed over the main headlamps, so was thinking something similar on the driving lights would be right. Didn't realize I was embarking on a serious antique hunt. If I find something I'll let you know. Meanwhile, anybody else out there have $0.02 to throw in, I'm anxious to hear.
I saw that "one" lamp on ebay too. Problem... can you find a matching one of the right size? If you buy them, buy a pair. I think the reasons are obvious. I went for the $$ because I love how those lamps look with the vertical grill headlamps also. They are not in Hella's catalogue. The only way if scan ebay/craiglist, etc etc everyday. They will come up from time to time. They are costly, there are other nice choices, but for me there are certain things that just "make" the build. Ward's lights were a "had to have". Marchal puts out a real nice repro vintage look also. Try NLA products.
Kelly..... I purchased these on ebay after looking for 2 years and they were very expensive but, I wanted yellow lenses and grills. I have never seen another set with the yellow lenses. They of course are no longer manufactured so up goes the price. Don't be in a hurry and look daily on ebay and something will show. Good luck......Michael
