I had a call this 10:30 am from Cory " Whatru-doo-in?....
Kelly and I are one our way, so how do we get there?"
Called Bill Drayer and he too was soon on his way.
Cory and Kelly did an unscheduled roadside pit stop as Kelly's exhaust fell prey to loose bolts and gravity. Kelly's JPS speedster is one classy looking ride. we did find that the distributor O ring leaking oil, an easy $1 part fix.
With the NASCAR race delay until Monday, we had a great rainy afternoon with burgers on the "turbo grill" and a couple of grogs. An in shop consult re: my speedster with the paint color choice still undecided... what a pita I can be :)
With the cooler rain and a bit more steady, I dressed "Cory to go" in a winter jacket resulting in a SEG.
Bill and I stood got one last laugh watching Cory and Kelly leave, Cory did an immediate wrong right turn, did an prompt course correction and both headed on out.
You're all always welcome back!

I had the warmer/drier ride home, which was dry most of the way, but got quite a bit damper a bit past Frederick. Other notes on trip in Events thread. Nice pix Alan, thanks for these.
Wow....can you guys have fun or what!?!?!
Cory needs one of those "Gorton Fisherman" storm hats.
Would look cool in the Hoopty - already windswept to the rear!!
Kelley's ride is just lovely......nicely appointed and that killer Kolor!

Why not bring the leading edge of the head rest pod farther forwards, under the roll hoop and form it into a little peaked "hat" to cover his head. Do a point in the front like Space Ghost's mask.
SWEET !

For those too lazy to find the Events thread:
The Second Recent East Coast Event, which featured the fine state of PA again, was made tolerable today only by the very warm (and nourishing) welcome given by Alan and Wild Bill, at Alan's Garage. I will confess that all other design points for this trip failed miserably: Sun did not shine; rain fell down; no other Speedsters joined in; travel betwix and between was done to minimize exposure, so was 99.5% Interstate. Swell enough, but not the back road twisties that were hoped for. I am thinking Cory has seen and endured situations much worse in his time, and he did smile valiantly through all, but nonetheless was a bit damp and chilled on several occassions. Again thanks to Bill, and Alan especially for the grub, grog, and tall tales, this PM. If we keep trying maybe some of the features so painlfully lacking in today's adventure, will come to pass in a future road trip. Hope so.
Oh, and PS: my muffler fell off. Coulda been much worse than it was, and maybe even funny after all. As to root cause, this I believe was my fault, so don't get all worked up at JPS. I applied a gasket at a flange in the system, thinking to improve the system, and probably used the wrong material. It burned out, released the torque on the nuts and they backed out. Of course, Cory, the always-prepared-for-anything Hooptymeister, had exactly the right nut and bolt required in his on-borad fix-it shop, and wrenches needed to apply. Also, we were only about 60 sec short of Alan's at the time, so all was set right in very short order, and w/ just a bit of scrape on the tail pipe. [See Alan's pix above.] While the flange was all loosy-goosey, the muffler was still retained to the car by a support bracket. On balance, I feel like I dodged a bullet, w/ just some minor scrape on the tail pipe. All's well that ends well? I'll go w/ that.

Yeah, nuthin' better than having an impromptu Speedy meet even though it was raining. I had spent most of Saturday cleaning and polishing up Blackie so she stayed snug as a bug in her garage so I drove the Pap Pap Buick. Had a great time and big thanx to Al for the Burgers and Grog! And not to forget that delish cantaloupe. Burgers at my place anytime, Guys! Al's wife Kim was a hoot as always insisting he paint his new ride "ReSale Red"!
Couple of shots mulling over Al's new project.

Looks like you guys had a great time. I was on my way back from a family reunion in West Virginia around the time you were on the road and might have detoured to join you if I knew you all were gathering at Alan's. I had planned to head north on I-81 to the Eastern Museum of Motor Racing to watch the vintage dirt trackers but the rain killed that idea. Good to see you were out in spite of the weather.

What a GREAT day! I drove the same 200-odd miles Kelly did, but apparently my car was built for the highway AND the twisties! :
Not to worry Cory, you just had a massive SEG attack.
Cory -
Glad to hear you guys had a good time hanging out. I'm surprised you didn't get pulled over in that Uni-Bomber outfit Alan supplied you! BWaaaa Haaaaa Haaaaa HA!

MUSB: essence is 8/28 SAN ~3:30 PM. I'll look for your message.
I've been swamped with the new place, it's insane! I'm glad to see all worked out well and you guys had a great time from the looks of things. I'd still like to get together at the new place this fall sometime. We'll shoot for late September early October.
By then, Mickey, you'll need a break. I suggest you do the Dragon Run with the rest of us in mid-October.

Mickey -- 13th October. Plan for it.

Last night I watched a comedy/movie called 'Waiting'. The players were Ryan Reynolds (Van Wilder) and the skinny dude from the iMac/PC commercials.
Anyway, it's about the shenanigans that the restaurant employees create behind the scenes - cracked me up. If you haven't seen it - check it out - I think you'll get a laugh also. I thought about you and your bistros! Glad to hear your new 2nd store is doing well! Now it's time for you to take a short break for the Dragon Run!
Peace - Out!
BTW -I saw a cool write up and pics of your Speedy in the Kit Car Mag currently on the newsstands - NICE!
