I'm in the same boat as you, Gerry. Speedster is finished, runs shifts and stops fine. My registration is delayed by NJ Motor Vehicle. Thought for sure that it would have come thru in time for Carlisle. I even registered to show it there, but NJ rejected the old '69 VW Texas registration that accompanied the frame (last registered in '90). Per NJ MV instructions, I've obtained a certified registration history from Texas MV, am awaiting a NJ MV search for any local NJ claims against the VW, and following all the rules, then must advertise for a week in a local newspaper to see if there are any claims. Following that and nine additional steps, I should be able to get it registered. With my luck it will be late October and time for winter storage before this is done.

Still looking forward to meeting a number of fellow SOC members this comming weekend at Carlisle. I may just put the show registration in the windshield of my daily driver, an '02 BMW and park with all the Speedsters & Spyders if this is OK.
Brian, there are always people in the MVA/DMV who will get in the way.
I have had good luck asking at the counter for a hot-rodder for a specific question, then the asking the question becomes a conversation with a person willing to help.
Just a thought. Person-to-person is usually also quicker.
yep, '71 Fiat 500....my other aircooled :)

Rebuilt with lots of new panels...(it was very rusty !) Every external panel and a lot of the internal panels have been replaced...Full story here..

Had it out today at a wee local show, near Stirling, 100 mile round trip in the sun, sunroof peeled back :)

Next years show will be in my Finished Speedster !!!!

I have a 3 stage registration process, safety test, (MOT) $75, Registration process, ('cause its a US import)$100, then a very strict test with lots of modern car requirements, (this test is another $700)

way to go yet....

Cheers
Gerry

Not far off the mark there Gordon !

Everything vehicle related, (ie revenue generating), is being clamped down on big style...Vehicle inspection departments are privatised, roadside checks now very common, to "increase safety standards"......do I believe that for a second.....?

Still, we do have some nice roads and views up on the west coast, they can't tax the view.....(or can they.....) :)
