Stan....Thanks for the response. If I don't go with a Suby in the next one I will surely  use a DTM Shroud. So far I've used a std flat-top shroud with flaps tack welded open and a 36hp with no flaps. The 36hp shroud cools my 2110 better by an average 18 F.

I have had in mind to build a horizontal shroud similar the old Corvair with the alternator separated and the like. First I thought I would use a VW fan but determined that it would turn the wrong way so that was out.The problem is that I have very limited knowledge of fans and it seems that they are pretty detailed, technically, to be able to find something that would fit my needs. Something that is already manufactured. There's gotta be something out there that would work. I have even thought of reversing the VW fan blades........Any comments Stan?..........Bruce

A few, Bruce.

There's a company in Germany called Riechert Tuning that makes parts for T1 and T4. They've got a horizontal "Corvair-style" fan for the T4. It seems like they used to offer one for the T1, but it's not on the site any more.

We did discuss this several months back on this thread, but I think everything pictured was T4.

You may want to check out the "Black Betty" build thread. The owner of that car has a horizontal set-up on his engine, which I think is a T1 if memory serves (it often doesn't).

I've never pursued it, because I've always been happy with what I've got and didn't see the point in reinventing the wheel.

Wow Scott!

Very cool, would love to meet up with you and see your car.  I'm in the Fairfax area and often go to Kattie's on early Saturday mornings, Dulless/Sterling and Fairfax Circle C&C's on Sunday. My buddy Syl from the Falls Church area also goes to these C&C's.

Scott;

What carbs are you running with the sync-link?  I assume you love the sync-link like all the rest of the guys here? I can afford the sync -link, but not the carbs that match it. I've got kadrons 40/44 EIS

Running Italian 44 IDFs now. Yes the sync-link is very nice, and very sensitive. Response is crisp, and very light.
