"...occasionally built by Riverside"

That would probably be Classic Cars of Riverside who built the 2110/44 Webers in my Vintage (purchased on the secondary market)

I haven't put a lot of miles on it, but several times have pushed it to the edge of my nerves (70/75mph) in hot weather for sustained periods of time...185 oil temp. 275 CHTmax. No oil leaks at all... Just pure joy and snorting snarly spunk... it's been a peach!

I couldn't be more pleased.

Annaliese, I would think that you would expect some criticism after your posts.  You said that you had some car knowledge, since your father was in the auto industry, yet, after driving your new engine and car for 600 miles, you didn't know how to locate or open the "engine door".  With 600 miles on a new engine, you should have changed the oil, not merely checked it.

Maybe I misread your posts, or maybe you were joking.

i think the sheer number of posts in this thread has overwhelmed most readers and contributors by now. if you read my posts following the one where i asked how to open the engine door you will know very clearly that i was kidding. i know that sometimes humor doesn't read clearly over the internet so i made sure to make a follow up post clarifying.

anyway, i am done posting for the time being as nothing new has really happened. i contacted kirk on monday and haven't heard back yet. i'll post again if anything of note happens. =)

Annaliese,

I would stop posting now as well.  You clearly are wrong to make your lights go out, your wheels to fall off, your door handle to fail and then you screwed the motor up.

In my opinion I think the post needs to end.  Sounds like Vintage is going to fix all the issues and you will be able to enjoy your little car soon.

Sorry to be so sarcastic, but this is getting tough to read with all the blame being placed on you with some of the posters "helpful" suggestions.

The regular posters are doing their usual thing which is to seriously help someone looking for info, providing excellent answers and information. Although I don't know most on this forum personally, I read it religiously.

I have learned so much in the last few years about these little cars from guys like Alan Merkin, Cuz Vin, Musbjim and Troy Sloan (and several others) without ever talking to them which is why I became a supporting member early on....  The information is fantastic.

So keep the faith, end this post and I know you will enjoy the car and the forum going forward hopefully without having to weed through the negativity provided by some.

Good Luck!

P.S. you did nothing wrong.

Annaliese; We've never met and perhaps never will, but take heart, there are some really nice people here among some a$$holes. I and others have been slammed for not owning one of "their" particular make of car or waiting for the one I have. Sarcastic remarks seem to pop up faster than politician's promises and provide sophomoric entertainment for those mental midgets that think they're Jay Leno. I've left this site repeatedly but as with some evil drug I'm lured back into it's dark depths like a prehistoric beast stuck in the La Brea Tar Pits. As my dad used to say "There's more horses' asses than there are horses", so the next time someone makes a cutting remarks, look to see if there's a horse nearby.

Annaliese - Hopefully you'll join us on one of our local cruises. I am sure you will fit right in with this bunch of misfits and enjoy yourself, as we're all about having a good time whatever we're doing (with or without our little cars).

The ONLY (car) advice we'll give you is this; if you should decide to join a SoCal SOC cruise, and see any of these knuckleheads pictured below ('Axis of Evil' at the Rock Store on Mulholland), DRIVE AWAY! (What our wives keep saying they should have done years ago!!)

Yeah,WHO are these A-HOLES!!!!!! HOW DARE THEY!! I cannot believe for a second that someone would hammer home the point to check your fanbelt and oil so you don't suffer another catastrophy!!! We all know that cars run on hopes and wishes and once you pay for it they are trouble free!!!

Look at that rainbow, and over there,is that a unicorn???  Wheeeee!

These cars are so trouble-free I can't even believe that they even have a hood that opens...who needs it?

Denial,it's not just a river in Egypt

Cars=Machinery,black & white/no emotions/run on scientific & mechanical principals

People=some generally don't want to hear what they don't want to hear/some live on hopes and dreams regarding machinery....good luck!

All this from a guy who calls himself James bond

It must be the weather or all the political posturing going on. When someone who does not have grease under their fingernails, may not be subscribing to Hot Rod Magazine or National Rifleman asks a simple question, hoping someone can answer with some useful advice but instead gets slammed then it starts to get too personal. Vince, myself and many others on this site fought for your Freedom of

Speech, so exercise it as you may, just remember what goes around, comes around. You might get bitch slapped by Vinnie or Gerd.

JIMMY WILL TELL U VINCE IS THE ONLY BITCH IN OUR GROUP SO THE SLAP WONT COME FROM ME

Haha...Thanks Jim,I am not as witless as I look....

To the OP,please don't be offended by my rants. This is a forum and many people will read this and I am not just talking to YOU. As a full time mechanic I see so many "tales of woe" which could,in hindsight,be easily avoided.

I am not saying you were 100% low on oil,I don't know,I wasn't there...I was trying to make a point that ANYBODY with one of these oldskool cars should make it a priority to check the basics often since these are cars KNOWN to spring oil leaks, and throw fan belts/overheat.

If this thread plants the seed for one person to re-think car maintenance, then it was worth posting IMO.

Honestly, were you really all that surprised?  lol

I was;  still bleary eyed (hey, I just got up) and it's almost the first thing I saw! And Ron, did you really have to bring it up again??
