Our buddy Bill Ascheman ran his best times ever this weekend on the big hill in Reading PA and I got to see one of them yesterday working Turn 10, which happens also to be the Pagoda.

This, unfortunately, was not his smoothest negotiation of this turn...

Bill is now solidly in the middle of the pack and that's no joke. The awesomeness should be apparent to all.

Smaller field this year, about 70 cars. Some of these guys are wicket fast. The most entertaining new entrant was this guy in an LS turbo-powered BMW set up for drifting.

I drove the Spyder the 80 miles up through Amish farm country and it was pretty spectacular. The new shifter needed a bit of adjustment but other than that there was no unpleasantness on the way to the show or back home, and we had some glorious weather for the races.

On the way back to Bill's house yesterday, a few blocks off the hill, we spotted a couple in a meissen blue Speedster, which fell in behind me and shadowed us for about 15 miles on the way back to Bill's house, before peeling off with a wave. I mean, what are the chances?

A few hours ago Bill texted me: "guess who I ran into today?" With these three pictures:
