i just posed the interiors topic a few days ago. thank you for all the suggestions. any ideas ,or has anyone moved an e-brake from the tunnel to under the dash. any advice on how to do this or necassary parts would be much appreciated. also, when filling out the form to donate, in the section where they ask you the amount, is that the monthly amount or the yearly amount? thanks again.

My conversion eBrake (Vintage) couldn't work because there are some really important steering parts in the way of getting the new apparatus in place... maybe it's different if you don't have a completed trunk area with gas tank, etc.

Good luck. If I were a car builder like Vintage or JPS that is one aspect of the build I would try and pencil in as standard. Some guys like authenticity in their replicars and some guys could care less, but that center mounted eBrake on the tunnel is VW thru-and thru (although it came back in the 911, go figure!)
Hi I have installed an original e'brake under the dash on my car and it work perfectly and passes all mot testing etc. The work involved is quite extensive and better undertaken when the body is not on the car. It does require the tunnel being opend up to install a londitudinal rod and bushing. When I manufactured the linkage arm that sits across the front of the beam I made 2 so have one spare.
Let me know if you would like further details.
Nigel,

Could you please email me pics/directions/decription/details of the arm that you mention for the ebrake conversion. Or better yet, post the info here for ALL OF US! I have an original 356 ebrake assembly that mounts under the dash, but none of the linkage pieces to make it work.

Thanks SO much!

TC
Hi Tc
I will arrange to get some digital photos made of the component drawings and the set up as installed on my car. I have also done another converstion on a friends Speedster with the body in position but was a little tight. One thing to remember is both these cars were RH drive, I will check out if there needs to be any changes for LH drive. I also flatend off and reduced the tunnel so when you look in the car it looks like a proper floor pan not a VW,I can give you details if you like, but the work is extensive and depends at what stage of build you are at.
Cheers Nigel
