You just "hyper-extended" the e-brake handle. The cables stretch a bit as they're used and the slack needs to be taken up by tightening the nut(s) on the threaded ends at the base of the handle mechanism.
All you have to do is pull the cross bar with the cables attached to it off of the locator pin at the rear of the handle. Remove one of the clips from the handle pivot pin and push that out. Pull the e-brack handle assembly out of it's bracket and re-set the ratchet/push rod/etc. in it's correct position in relation to the various pieces (you'll see what I mean, once it's apart), then re-assemble and tighten the cables.
This happens all the time, you just need to pay attention to the 'feel' of the e-brake. As it sets in higher and higher positions, you just take up the slack in the threads. No big deal at all.
Luck!
