You probably need to put the ignition in the dash and get an earlier steering tube and maybe shaft too,

The VW tube is larger diameter than the bus tube. So, you need a larger opening in the switch housing.

I used a drum sander on the left side containing the switch to enlarge the opening and an early Beetle right side half.

I originally tried to make a smaller tube out of copper tubing. I had to enlarge the top end to use the VW bearing and that made it more difficult to fit the bus switch housing.
As i have said before you need a 6 inch longer colum. that adapter spool is about that longer and your wheel would not clear the dash eyebrow when you lose it.. The best thing would be to find a real 356 colum.. But it will cost ya.

It's eather that or take 2 VW colums and make a 6 inch longer one . and buy a 67 bus switch. Vw made 2 differnt diameter colums the smaller is the best to extend and adapt.. so your switch fits right on, right out of the box. There are no shortcuts. The other trick for the horn switch is the sneakest trick

See if one of the builder can make you one if you dont have the mig and tig skills
