I THINK VINCE WOULD BUY A SAS FIRST
Been laughing at this guy for a while. It will be re-posted over and over assuming he was fed a load of bull first and wants to recoup for his stupid mistake.
He's gunna blow that stock engine too if he keeps revving it like that.
Automotive Legends strikes again---poor sucker. He won't come close to getting back what he paid.
Did any catch the "Ed Nardi" steering wheel reference?
I thought to myself: "Ed Nardi? Thats who makes Nardi steering wheels? I never knew that.". So I googled it. There are plenty of "Special Editions (Ed)" Nardi wheels...but nothing about this guy Ed.
I guess I could be wrong. Maybe he was thinking Ed hardy.....

Enrico just rolled in his grave...
It doesn't have leather, you can tell because there is no seam on the instrument eyebrow. It doesn't have Webers it has a mechanical fuel pump. It's a base model Vintage with a couple of upgrades, in nice condition and might be worth $18,000 if he is lucky. In fact, I think the only thing Automotive Legends did to this one is add the N
I also do not believe the "Tubular Frame" comment, I don't think Kirk does those, but I could be wrong...wouldn't be the first time..
Why do some of these people buy these cars? 1600 miles! I've had mine on the road for 2 weeks and have almost reached 1000 miles.
This is why we say 'Welcome o The Madness' and NOT 'Welcome To The Smartness'. 8-)
The impulse buyer... they like the styling and have the pockets but have no clue that a speedster is a rolling hobby based on 1950's technology, that needs to be tweaked now and then.
A content speedster owner is one that will have some sort of mechanical ability or know an old school mechanic that is still familiar with aircooled, is available at their beckon call and enjoys a check.
I've dealt with owners that, despite telling them never force anything, damage and or break more speedster components than you would believe possible.. hence they become frustrated and they sell their low mileage speedsters

DrC you are so right.
But if you have a good enough local independent to keep 'er rolling well enuf then your golden too! I assume those may just be too far & few between - unfortunately.
Vinny.
I do quote my Vintage as "Semi Tube Chassis" as Kurt does implement a lot of structure that warrants that statement. But to each their own.

Michael, the "Tube" reference is vs "Pan", not structure within doors etc....Very misleading if that is what you are talking about..
I kinda read it like Michael. Nothing too misleading, steel frame added to a pan.

Not to make a big deal out of this, but nowhere in his add is a Pan mentioned....in Fact, it alludes to "better handling" because of the tubular frame....and, who is going to go to the Vintage site, to read what Kirk has in his spec's...people are not going to do that, (like Steve did)...
Caught the verbiage on the plate. I too live in the land of Lincoln, unfortunately, in this case it is the land of BS.
Tube? Someone used "tube" in reference to a VS? The only tube you will find on my VS is what I took a cigar out of! It's pure pan---albeit much improved, but pan---like the original Speedster I believe.
This just gets better and better.

Jack, I don't believe original Speedsters had a pan. I seem to remember that they were unibody. But, it's been awhile.
You're right, Charles. They were a very early unibody car.
Now I se ewhere Vinny was going with this. Any other surprises that a guy might need to know about when making a decision? Send me a private note if needed, I won't rat anyone out. I'll be in So. Cal next week and MAY take a look at the factory to see all of those tubes in action!

I can dig it. There is no doubt he is being somewhat misleading but again a VS has lots of added tubes, but it is indeed pan based & he should have been more precise with his verbiage.
I could not find a VS bare chassis pic with the dash bar etc. in place but I did find this gem of a shot showing somebodies tubing!

I think he got confused w/my jumping out of a plane once.. you know skydiving...! but if I cruise at 80MPH Kirk freaks.. so the Formula"1" Driver is totally out of the question.

.....and here is yet another ad that quaifies as a Pulitzer Prize for fiction.
Now folks we have here a frame off (frame ...huh ?) restoration. Notice the rubber hanging out of the bumper deco, rusty hose and air cleaner clamps, oil cooler with rusty angle iron bracket ( just keep hacking away at the fiberglass panel until the cooler fits) carpet pulling away from the seat backs and no engine to body seal and the list goes on .....such a deal.

How about the grooves in the top of the fan shroud?
DrClock, seeing that this car is "solid from Cali", the quarter panels should be solid... FYI
Fan the shroud grooves. Probably, the chassis was not shortened to maintain a horizontal plane. The the rear section is probably slightly higher so which when the trans and motor are bolted in, they sit higher than they should so you have fan shround to deck lid clearance issue. Easier method would have been to remove some material from the bottom of the hinges.
Here's yet another fun read.

So was this the car from the movie?? Or.... Did the movie coincidentally have a speedster in it? I love misleading ads!
Must be a really BIG ASS Audio Amp.
He's powering it with a, what? 35 amp generator?
