hey Mike...
I actually live up here in Nor Cal, bay area, to be exact. Kirk, from VS, was kind enough to invite me to come by, check out their shop, and maybe take one out for a spin whenever I'm down south. Coincidently, my family and I are actually planning to head down to San Diego for a little vacation time this July and will definitely try to stop by there on the way down or up. I'd really like to get up close and personal with one of the fully flared babies if there is one on the lot. Either way, it'd be fun to see where all the creativity and workmanship takes place when assembling these puppies. I, myself, am into building and designing things for my truck so taking a tour of Kirk's shop and set-up would be a thrill to say the least.
One thing that concerns me is that I did a little preliminary research on the engines and it looked like that there was a time when the 1915cc engines and/or 1600cc engines were built in Mexico? And many of those engines had problems of burning out prematurely aorund the first few 1000 miles? Anyone can verify or rectify the matter? Kinda an important make or break decision for a prosepective speedster buyer like myself. Also, is there much hp or dynobutt difference between the 2100+ and the 1915 engines? Kirk tells me that the 2100+ are basically for racers and can cause more internal strain/damage to the vehicle. Any input comments welcome here.
And lastly, thanks y'all, for the heads-up on the overseas ebay auction. I guess it would be safer to order a brand new one straight from Kirk than to take my chances with an international transaction just to save a few bucks. Besides, I just LOVE the fresh "new car" smell everytime!
Oh yeah, good catch on the sketchy e-bay seller ratings percentage. Was too excited about the vehicle auction, that I didn't even catch that important "little" detail. ;)
cheers,
rudy
