Does anyone have experience, or opinions, on A FACET solid state fuel pump? (2.5 - 1.5 psi max. 17gph)...it must be a 'pusher' and not a 'sucker' since it's to be mounted close to fuel tank and below fuel level

They work ok but are sorta noisy. You can hear a noticable clicking pulsing sound with these when running. Better to get a rotary pump which are a bit quieter. I first had a Facet then went to a Holley rotary unit. I left the Facet in place as a back up unit.

FACET used to be a USA made product believe they are now made by EMPI. EMPI quality is spotty. Buy the stand off rubber "feet" to cut the vibration noise.
Bill, Is your Holley rotary a pusher?
As those of you who were Carlisle last year (actually the Marriott parking lot) can well understand why I'm soliciting info on non-mechanical fuel pumps!!!
I gather there are advantages to a "pusher" positioned close to and under the gas tank. No sense in opting for a noisy Facet brand if someone has a knowledgeable 4'n half, or 5 star experience with another brand...(although I like the idea of WildBill disconnecting his Facet but leaving it in place as a backup)
BTW, did anyone notice Venuti's folding satchel of an extensive metric tool kit last year during the parking lot emergency replacement of a front wheel bearing? Peter had everything in there but finger nail clippers...I'm thinking that I need one of those kits too!
I think I got it from CB Performance. The main advantage for the pusher up front is alleviating vapor locking mech. pumps located on the engine due to the heat.
If you need a paperweight for your desk, a Facet fuel pump makes a dandy one.
The CB rotary pump makes a little noise when running, but you'll never hear it over the engine noise.
What about an AirTex?
I know you appreciate value, Carl , so here's the CB fuel pump for half the money:
Click the link... it's a half-priced fuel pump!
They're quiet, self-regulating, support 200 hp or so, and cost $40. They're the same Carter pump CB repackages and sells for twice as much. They're cheap enough to buy 2 and carry a spare.
"appreciate value"?... Thanks Stan.
That's a genteel euphemism for what I am!...skinflint
Thanks for the lead. I was almost ready to pull out my check book for a "Gently used AirTex"...and I think that's a genteel euphemism for Buyer beware!
Thanks Stan...the Carter pump is ordered...free two day shipping too!
Amazon makes it too darn easy to spend money...
They also reminded me that I was interested in a Robert Monroe book several months ago, (that I'd forgotten about), and did I now want to combine it with the pump?
Hell, why not!... Just a couple of more key strokes
Great find, Stan.
Great find, Stan.
Yeah, I figured it was time to post "something of value", so I posted.... a value on something.
I bought one for a spare too --- great cost saving find.
I have a Facet electric pump which blew. Blew a hole in the side of the casing. It was on there so I replaced it with the same design....I was under the impression it was American manufacture also used for aeroplanes (I'm British) I found then that it was putting out 5-6 psi, so I put on a regulator, wound down to 2.5 psi. I got the info from the guys at Facet in the USA. It's interesting that it says above that they're no longer made in the USA. I'm OK so far with the replacement, it does click, you can hear it when you turn the key but it's submerged in the engine noise on starting.
Sorry forgot to mention that the info the guys gave me at Facet also said that it should be on a 3 amp fuse. Mine had been installed on a 15 amp circuit.....why the thing blew and didn't just stop. It blew the whole circuit board through the side of the casing.
Maybe there's more peace of mind just lugging a spare mechanical pump around as I've been doing since last Carlisle... waiting for the Merklin/Ross substitute pivot pin fix to fail
Almost ended up with a Facet off of thesamba but the deal fell through (thank God) so I just bought a CB Performance setup with a solid 3.5 output (so they say).

Carl, the car will fall apart all around the engine and then the fuel pulp will self destruct, but that Merklin/Ross pivot pin will still survive.
365 day warranty on all Merklin / Quarnoccio repairs !
Shouldn't that be 356 days....
