Electric Anti-Car Jacking Alarm..

I have to call Kirk, but I am having a problem with an Alarm that was installed on the speedie. I do not know if Kirk installed this or not.. I'll have to research that... My question is how do I disengage it.. it will not allow me to start the car. even after I reset it by the button on my hand brake.. I do not want to fuss with the electical under the deck-lid until I know what I am looking at, so I am asking for help here...

Any Ideas here? Thanks in advance ...

OK, here's what I've done so far.. Found out this is made by Hofco auto security, and their directions are not working for me.. I was able to start the car a couple of times but it never worked on a regular basis? I even removed the fuse in order to re-set the device and it did not seem to work..

My guess is either something in the alarm brain or one of the relays is bad. Is the no start due to no voltage to the coil (engine turns over but doesn't catch) or no voltage to turn the starter over (starter doesn't even turn engine over)? Have you thought of replacing the alarm with a new one? Should be prety much a wire for wire change. Or back out the special alarm wiring (disgard it) and buy a Smith&Wesson.

2nd thought - It might just be a loose or corroded connection too - if its ok sometimes and not others. SInstallers often simply use those crimp on vampire connectors. Look around for them or taped areas on the wire and squeeze/jiggle them. If it then works - something is loose or needs to be cleaned and reconnected.

Thanks Wolfie... I happened to check a lot of what you mentioned to no avail.. however.... I did isolate the problem.. beside ME...

Turns out the alarm is just fine, and after preforming some mild non-destructicve physcial analysis, I determined that it was the freaking key switch.. seems to be a tad intermitient.. I have to push to the right for it to make contact...

So the good news is that my Speedie is running again, but the bad news is that I have to change out my switch.. shouldn't be that tough.. pop a wire here and there.. LOL. Wish me luck Wolfgang...
