Viable looking kit and reasonably priced. Motor is small and low volt but AC with regen braking is a big plus. A decade ago when I was looking at doing Bridget as a DC car it was going to cost me that much at least for a lead acid setup at 120 volts with a Warp 9 motor and I concluded it would not quite have the range I needed to commute to and from work. That range was 40 miles.
Things have gotten much better and more interesting.
@WOLFGANG: yeah, electric motors have the flattest torque curve evar. This one is 120 ft-lbs from 1 rpm to about 10,000 rpm so third is good. Also second is good. Fourth would be good as well. And of course you could also use a fifth if you wanted bragging rights. The gear selection would not affect power usage (mileage) very much though.
You keep the clutch and transaxle for reverse.
