Finishing up the electric window conversion (finally) so took some pics. The kit I bought off Ebay would not fit without lots of mods BUT, the motors and winding mechanism fit perfectly on my existing window lifting mechanisms after I cut off the old hand winding mechanisms. This was done without even removing the lifts from the door using a Dremmel type of tool with a small cut off wheel. The electric mechanisms just bolted on in the same place.

I used the wiring harness that came with the Ebay kit but eliminated the switches and instead used crank activated switches from Hoffman. Even though I ordered the switches with European style shafts they still would not work with the handles on my car so I took the switches apart, cut off the shafts, cut the shafts off the old manual mechanisms then welded the old shafts to the new actuator. A bit of grinding then reassembled.

Actually the whole project was not too difficult and the finished look is better than having rocker switches to actuate the windows IMO.

Here's a pic of the driver's side finshed. Lift up on the window crank and the winbdow goes up, push down and it goes down. Its a pretty durable switch, even if someone agressively tries to handcrank the window before realizing its a switch I doubt anything would break as its a machined steel actuator inside a machined alum housing.

You mentioned "windows" - plural. I've been driving my speedy for ten years now. I only have one window. It's between me and the front of the car. Maybe I should mention that I have never put the top up in ten years.

Am I missing something? Are there really other windows on a speedster?
Well not everyone drives in the rain . Like I have last fall when i went to Aarons in the moutians. it was rainnig most of the morning goint there. I did have to drop the driverside window a few times to let the windshield defog. But oherwise dry all the way. A Speedster D has its aha moments.

Nice job Brian If I went with electric Id want a remote for the passager side as well.

Get yourself a 8 pole rocker switch for the driver side door.

Run the wires to the passager side from the drivers door The rocker will switch your window handle switch to the other door . Wala a remote. and you only added maybe 4 wires and one switch.
