anyone running these in their pan based cars. Some nice tartan upholstery and they would make a pretty good knockoff of a 356 GT seat.

Look good but quite narrow.
What's the dimensions on the pan based speedster seats? I only have about 20 inches between the tunnel and the inner longitudial rocker on the Envemo which I think is similiar to regular pan based speedsters.
I thought 19.5 was the number but I might be wrong (as usual)
I'm approx 19.5", CMC.
Note on the EMPI's...."Covers are not replaceable"....
I think they mean that they don't sell replacement covers. What went on must come off. Lol. I would just replace the center material with a tartan or corduroy
The price is certainly right on these EMPI seats. Guys on ebay want 200 bucks just for the fiberglass speedster seats shells. Plus 200 for the foam kit and the another 250 for a vinyl seat kit. That's a lot of money in my opinion. Unless you guys know of anyone selling a speedster seat kit for a more reasonable price.
Look at that "B" dimension (the "seat" part of the seat). It's 10" wide. Unless you're a 10 year old future cheerleader, I think it might be a bit snug for your bum.
The seats look really good but...4mm inserts just doesn't sound substantial enough for a seat mounting. I would prefer something like 5/16" bolts with big washers to back-up the seat shell. How would I get them in if the seat upholstery is not removable ? Maybe it's just glued on to the shell. If so that's doable........Bruce
The seat bottom might be able to lift up. They had to of thought about mounting...
OOPS...I read that wrong...they are 8mm inserts ! Thats good !! It's a good buy if they fit and just replace the seat and all when the upholstery gets shabby. There are some good sliding tracks out there that are really low profile to give more head room. They can be cut and "narrowed" to fit the four inserts......Bruce
