Empi Trigger Shifter Thread Size

Does anyone know by chance the thread size of the Empi Trigger Shifter. I want to get an ivory ball made for it, but want to confirm the size.

If no one comes up the the thread size; check it with a thread gage.

Try here. They are only $20 and if you tell them you will be instlling it on an empi shifter they will put the correct thread adaptor in it.

Wow, looks great and seems like a good deal.....

Just remember that the ball on the Empi trigger-style shifter has a pocket at the bottom for the trigger housing to slide up into when reverse is engaged, sort of a recess cast into the mount on the ball before the threads begin. If you just replace it with a standard ball, you wont be able to pull the trigger up high enough to over ride the lock-out and get it into reverse.

Maybe best to just have a body shop paint your original ball in Ivory for you.

The Empi Shifter threads are 3/8 - 24.
If you use a small knob, you don't need the recess mentioned.
In this photo you can see the "step". The knob doesn't thread onto the shaft far enough to interfere.

Thanks, I finaly figured that out late last night. I diagramed the ball that I have ask Gene at Flameball to make. I will let all of you know how it turns out.

I think that I may try that on my car, kind of a perfect combination of stock and aftermarket with the tall boot finishing everything off.

I bought my nob at flame ball for my empi shifter . Nice people and should be add to the shop list.

I just got back in town and mine was waiting for me in the mail. Great service, I just ordered it last Monday!!! I highly recommend anyone wanting a new shift ball to contact Gene at flameball.com. He counter sunk the inner lip so the reverse lock-out works perfectly and looks perfect!

I came across this thread while searching for a custom shift knob for my EMPI trigger shifter. I saw the diagram you made to send to flameball.com but are the dimensions correct? They say 1.9 mm and 1 mm for the recess, but that seems pretty small. Should it read 1.9 cm and 1 cm?
