About the same, as far as the cases go (if you can find a decent case capable of being rebuilt), but for the other stuff inside?  Probably quite new, like about when the engine got built.

 

Bearings, crankshafts, cams, heads, cylinders (Barrels), carbs fan shroud and tin, alternators, etc, are all usually new for most engine builds.

 

The technology they are all using, engine-wise, is right up there with the pans, though.

Therein lies 99% of the charm. I love 'em.

In your case, a very BIG lawn mower engine...
