Hey Guys

I am about to reinstall my engine but thought it would be a good time to make any modifications to the engine bay.  I have read a few post about putting 6 to 8 inch hole in the firewall directly in front of the fan intake helps to get more air.

Our car is Beck and the fire wall is not just a straight wall up to the body.  There is a large shelf in the back.  It would be hard to make a hole directly in front of the fan intake.  One other thing that is different on a Beck is they use a fan that sits on the shelf to draw air in and feed it through tubes down to the heater boxes.  I am not using the heater boxes with the A1 sidewider system.  So I have this fan unit just sitting there.  Should I just keep that electric fan and turn it on when running to draw air into the engine bay or remove it an leave the hole opening.  Also we are running dual 44's carbs.  Do I need to cut an holes into the wheel wells to provide more air for them.  Any suggestions or recommendations would be appreciated.  Below is a picture of tempty engine bayhe engine bay.

Agree with Stan.........I have a VS that comes with one of those firewall holes in front of the fan intake. I covered it up.         IF .....your engine compartment is totally sealed up like original so that ALL the air has to come in through the deck lid grill, you are close to being on target or maybe even there.  Then measure the vacuum in the engine compartment with an accurate low scale gauge or better yet, a manometer at about 70mph or 3500 rpm, which ever comes first. You'll know what to do next based on what you find. There are lots of creative people on here that can tell you what they did to correct the slight vacuum you MAY find ....Hope this helps.............Bruce
