Ever since I can remember all genuine VW engine blocks (Germany, Mexico or Brazil) have the little stud at the bottom right of the case to hook up the thermostat bracket. I just checked the one in my VS (which is a recent VW Brazil one) and it doesn't have it. When running my fingers through the side of the case (that's all I can do since I don't want to remove the tinware at this time) I don't feel either a stud or a hole (just in case it was removed). Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.

I sorta lucked out. Looked at the hole on the old case, hung the bracket off the t'stat on the new one and marked the spot on the case. crossed fingers, eyes and toes and drilled - did mark the drill bit for depth. Drill went fairly straight and I have no hole into areas I didn't want one, like to the inside of the case. I'm not that good so maybe it was beginners luck dunno. Give it a shot it's not that bad.
