Engine Breakin

What do you guys think a proper break in is? I should have a new 2185 on the road next week. Suggestions? Things I should be concerned about?

If Roland built your engine, he'd be the guy to ask. Every engine builder has their own set of "do's" and "don't do's". You're already off to a good start with oil changes, rpm variation, no redlining, etc.

Is it Roland Rascon?

I read your other posts again. It was Mark Hjelms who suggested that Roland was building your engine, since your specs seemed almost identical to the engine Roland was building for him. If you don't know your engine builder's identity, you need to find out. There must be some miscommunication between you and Kirk.

Kirk is having someone built it. I'll have to ask who, I have just put faith in kirk. His reputation is A+ from dozens of people. I'll find out more when I pick up the car.

Spoke to kirk and Roland is who built the motor.

He said change the oil at 300 miles and then every 3000. Take it easy on the throttle for the first 500 miles.

Nick you will bw fine as long as you dont beat on it for the first 1K miles. If you are like me you can put those miles on in a couple of weeks or less. Your bigger concern should be learning to tune your Carbs. Since you are in CA try to get Roland or Kirk to show you how to adjust and clean the jets. Former fat butt owner.

Good point, Marty. If he's getting Solex Kadrons he should have no problems with his carbs---I put almost 12,000 on my Kadrons without touching them. They really are trouble free.
