So I ordered an ENGINEGUARD from down engine head sensortranny sensor installedunder and it made to the top of the world if your a Raptors fan in about a week.  Well I got down to it, and installed the sensors on the available cast screw holes of my engine head and a mid point tranny bolt area.

Then I had to fabricate a bracket to install it under my dash and keep it mostly out of sight but the first hurdle was to change the wire output from the side of the unit and move it to the back of the unit so with the back cover off I proceeded to migrate the mass of wire to the back side or the unit then I sealed off the hole with JB  weld and since it was a tad grey I painted it flat black.

Drill hole

Moved to the back side and hole plugged not yet finished.

Well I had two issues develop over time which made me monitor the temp guage like a hawk.  Nothing serious happened but it got me thinking even if I also have Evans to protect the engine but I needed to rest a bit  My OCD kicked in.

So this one has a buzzer and will alert if my attention is gone and a fuse blows on my aux pump not to mention will show the normal temperature and even adjust the warning points automatically.

All good now !

P.S.  I read a lot on tranny temp guages and engine guages and I felt that some situations with a tranny for example if all of a sudden the temp went up it could alert you of a possible slow oil leak.  When was the last time you checked the tranny oil?  Guys that pull trailers use them to see how the tranny is doing. IT is cheap insurance @Marty Grzynkowicz

Yup, had a tranny temp gauge on my F250 diesel.  Watched it occasionally for the first year, then discovered that it never moved much and that my turbo boost gauge was more fun to watch (“Can I find a really long Interstate uphill to get the boost past 25 pounds with my foot in it?”)

It never hurts to have gauges on stuff to let you know what’s really going on.

Or to watch closely when you get bored on a long trip.

I should have had activity gauges on our two Jack Russells"………

@IaM-Ray said- "I read a lot on tranny temp guages and engine guages and I felt that some situations with a tranny for example if all of a sudden the temp went up it could alert you of a possible slow oil leak.  When was the last time you checked the tranny oil?  Guys that pull trailers use them to see how the tranny is doing.

I think you'll find, Ray, that (as Gordon said) keeping track of engine vitals will keep you way busier. I'm of the understanding (from experience and talking to people I know in the high perf VW world) that transaxle oil overheating is a non event whether on the street, drag race strip or even road racing. As for a leak- the puddle on the garage floor will alert you to any leakage way before you notice any change in trans oil temps, and simply checking that the drain plug is tight occasionally will negate any need to worry about the thing suddenly dumping it's life-blood somewhere inconvenient. If you wait for the gauge to tell you there's a problem it'll cost way more money to fix, as by that time everything (including the transaxle case itself) will be toast. Al

PS- I can see a trans fluid temp gauge being a great tool when hauling with an automatic, though.

Well AL, I got the guage mostly for the engine temperature and coolant monitoring as I explained but for a few bucks more the second sensor came with it and I added it to the tranny.

So the unit, will monitor both ends and alarm if there is an issue when I am not looking.

It will probably never be looked at after I drive for a couple of weeks which is fine but in reality I want it as I would an idiot light, and a BUZZER, just in case.

With that said every situation that I encounter with my car,  I find a fix, when I do, I try to fix it so that it will prevent it from happening again or I add it to my maintenance routine.
