Just beautiful, Chris. You're going to be one happy fella. A detail question. In front of the right front tire there appears to be a scoop or something. Oil cooler scoop or what ?
nice! very nice!
I'd love to work at IM. playing with lego all day every day....

Actually, now that I'm retired, I would love to do the same. I might even do it for free.
Bob, I'm sure Henry would take you up on that.
Well, I'm not sure if my good wife would want to move to B.C..
It would be a nice way to spend your days, though, working on beautiful cars such as Chris's.
Chris: your car is coming along nicely, and I'm sure you are chomping at the bit to get in it and turn on that key. Spring is sure to arrive someday, with Summer right after it, and that means lots of top down driving.

i'm in BC. It's a beautiful place to live and i consider myself very lucky.

I'm a British Columbian as well. And Mango's right you know; you don't know what you're missing...Al
That settles it. Move to British Columbia and take along your bad wife.......
Leave your good wife at home.
Yes. I know BC is a great place. I've visited a number of times, and I have a niece living in Vancouver.

ooorrrrrrr
move to van and hook up with bob's niece. problem solved. even better - move in with her. man, this is easy.
Looking at the last photo in the flicker stream. Is that the E-Brake handle out on the tunnel next to the shifter? Why is it so far forward?

If you've been here before, why are you still in Ontario? Everyone else who comes out for a visit never goes back....
I wish they would. It's getting to damn crowded out here.
A little birdie told me your car is running
Hey Marty,
Thanks for the heads up. I heard they were throwing in the motor on Tuesday and then they were going to test it for a week or so.... I actually think its getting to tight now for me to make it to Carlisle. The car transporter will pick up the car 1 to 6 days from the date it's ready which is probably late this week and then shipping could take a week or more, so it may not work. I've been dying to go to Carlisle with a car for the last few yearS, but With the time it takes to actually get the car coupled with the time to get it legally on the road, I'm pretty sure my Carlisle dream is dying.... My wife was into it too which was not the case before.....
Oh well, maybe next year.... Pete, I am not sure about the e brake position. I honestly think its the angle of tHe pic that's making it look forWard, but I'll know soon enough.....thanks
Chris:
Don't give up on Carlisle. I had to miss last year, as my IM arrived a week or so before we were scheduled to head out, and I didn't have time to prepare it as I wanted (mine was a used one, but still in fantastic condition).
Henry doesn't send out a new car unless it's in top shape and ready to go, so there may still be time to get it insured and licensed. Can Henry send you all the documents you need ahead of time? I insured my car before it arrived.
Keep your fingers crossed.
Don't think that you can't have a blast at Carlisle unless you have your car. There have been many folks (myself included) who have come in daily drivers or rentals and had great times.
Chris,
Your car can be 'no hassle' insured through Hagarty via telephone call based on identification# from Henry...With that documentation Massachusetts can issue a 20 day Temporary Plate...Then you can fire it up and latch onto Gordon's caravan at the Mass Pike, or shoot down Route 8 to I-84
Uhhhhhhhhhh..............
Massachusetts doesn't have "temporary" plates.
Still, if you can get the paperwork (certificate of origin, bill of sale and title) from Henry prior to delivery (FedX overnight works, but is $$$) and then line up Hagerty or some other and get tothe DMV to Git R Dun, son!
We could even vary the caravan speed during your break-in period.
I'm jus' sayin....
Oooops...Sorry for the bum suggestion Chris.
Different States. Different DMV's...But, if you can swing it I'd love to see you as part of Gordon's magnificent, head turning caravan pulling into Fast Freddie's to pick up Eastman and me...What a sight that's going to be!
Chris,
Talk with Henry about this, he has solved these types of issues before.
Can you tell we want you to come to Carlisle?
Thanks guys. I am on the registration with my insurance guy. He is very confident he can get it done for me without issue, it may just be a timing thing. Funny Gordon I spoke with my guy last night about temp plates and he explained the Mass doesn't have them.... I like the idea though Carl, so thanks. If there is a way to make it, I will find it and make it happen. One thing is for sure though, i am not gonna make the trip without a car. I did that back in 2009 and it was fine because I didn't own a car, but to own one and go without it would be just annoying to me...... Thanks again for All the replies.....
I'll keep you posted.
Chris
In honor of (maybe) having Chris and his new IM join us on the Caravan, I am going out today to buy six cans of semi-gloss black with which to paint over the rust spots on my car hauler trailer. It just saw it's first winter ever and the snow took its' toll so this is the least I can do to spruce it up. Don't want to have the worst looking rig in the Caravan!
Chris - Help me remember.....Does your car have a newly rebuilt engine (requiring break-in) or is it a used engine with miles on it?? Thanks, Gordon
Henry tries to send them out with a few hundred miles on them that he personally puts on. I think if Chris puts on another 200 miles at various speeds he will be ok. I think my new IM had 600 miles on it before the long run from Chicago to Carlisle. Chris, your gonna love your new Suby IM.
If a motor is built right, a long highway trip will not kill it. I drove from Vancouver to LA on a motor I had installed that morning; we varied the speeds and at the end of the first day I paid a guy to use his lift to do the first oil change (somewhere just outside of Eugene, Oregon, I think). After that we blasted down to catch the Bug In (1979?). Got a good many miles out of that one- 1750, Bugpack 4063 cam, dual port heads, kadrons and 1 3/8" header. The things we do when we're young.... Al
Damn, it's a Soob, just drive the shite out of it!

Words to live by.
Hey Gordon,
The motor is a newly rebuilt Subaru. I was sent all the paperwork on the motor from CCR. They give you nice break in instructions abehaved to vary the speed during the break in period but they say varying it by a couple mph is fine.
Thanks
Looks great Chris! Thanks for sharing!
Did you all notice the gauges? These look much nicer then the typical replica ones. I wonder if these are specific for a Suby install? I wonder if these can be purchased from IM or anywhere else?
Chris, hope you don't mind if I embed a photo of your dash.
