Engine Lid | 356 Speedster, 550 Spyder, Replica, Automotive Community

Getting ready for Spring I've noticed that lid will not stay open all the way. It comes down to about parallel with the floor.Makes it awful tough to work inside. Is there a way to adjust the piston mechanism. Or any other suggestions. Thanks.

Joe; most of us just use the little retainer pin; are you using hydraulic pistons in yours? If that's the case you can always find new replacements such as used in newer cars and SUV's.

Gas struts for cars have strong of a gas charge....you can find what you need from a fiberglass truck cap. The gas shocks they use to lift the back window is a smaller one.

You can always spot an ardent engine man by the "quick release" pins on his engine cover, (or one with a bad back).
