Having now struggled for two hours I still can't get it to work properly with the LID ON.  If I insert the male pin and pull the lever, the pin pops out.  When I install the pin into the lid and put lid in place and latched, pulling on the lever will not open in.  The only thing I have not yet done is attach the lid to the mounting arms.  SHould I do that next?

I have tried to upload a photo however does not seem to be working.

No adjstments on latch female tho I have drilled expansion holes into lid where male part goes and used that as adjustment.  A friend who is a video engineer suggested putting camera into engine bay with light and when it does not open I will not only see what the problem is I can hear myself cursing on the camera!

LOL

SUccess. Placed batt operated drop light in engine comp.  Took grill out and stuck mirror down. ( had camera in hand but tried low tech first.)   PROBLEM  was that the car came with a lid that had whale tail.  Totally different.  The male piece was not coming close to reaching the female part of the latch.  Made an extension  out of sheet metal.  Problem solved tho I am now having the problem that I saw others have when I did a search.  Even with teh stock lid the latch spring does not have strength to pop  up lid.  So I just have to reach for the lid while pulling on handle on door post.  I am not up for taking latch apart to replace some springs.  Does anyone know if those can be acquired some place.

BTW I did some biz with  Vintage Speedsters and found them prompt and got what I requested.  I was not satisfied with the hood handle and they said to return and they would send another ASAP.

I did a better search and have found struts on Amazon.  Funny how about fires.  The only engine fire I ever had was in a Ghia.  We were at a remote trailhead in the Rockies, coming back from a backpack trip and upon startup. THis is a LONG time ago but I think I had tried to make the car difficult to steal and messed with the wiring.  When I started it up I had not bothered to return to default settings--- ----POOF.  Lot of dirt so I was able to smother it.  Or was it that there had been a huge fire with flames jumping hwy.  I figured if I kept speed up I could blast thru.  How did I ever live to get this old  :-)
