OK, you guys may have already figured this out but remember I'm a newbie and still feeling my way around this car. I mentioned before that the pin was missing to keep my rear lid up and this afternoon as I was opening the sliding door in my hotel room what did I see? The exact same pin that I needed! So I Googled "sliding door pin" and there it was. The same one Kirk sales on his site for $10 are less than $2 online. Would it be bad of me to just take the one from my hotel room? LOL!
Is it permissible to drift my own 'thread'??

In response to Scott's discovery of Kirk's $2 pin. We all understand the necessity of turning a profit in business dealings, but sometimes 'unconscionable' breaks the bonds of goodwill. I purchased a Vintage luggage rack through TheSamba classifieds, but it came without mounting hardware. Kirk agreed to sell me "mounting hardware" for a mere $5 Terrific deal. Shipping was $7...Still a good deal.

When my "mounting Hardware" arrived from Kirk it consisted of 4 hex nuts, 4 flat washers, and 4 locking washers!!!...I paid twelve dollars for what could be picked up at any hardware store for two dollars and eight cents!!
I just don't understand your concern, Carl. Using your numbers, Kirk charged you $5 for items you said could be purchased for $2 at a local hardward store.

So, for adding on $3 to your costs, Kirk is showing "unconscionable" business practices.

I'm not sure what type of business you are in, but I must assume it's not retail.

Read the posts on Kirk, and you'll find that he's a guy with a rep for providing excellent customer service. I think he provided the same in your case. I couldn't afford to make many $3 profit deals in my business.
No Jim, the 'unconscionable' part that leaves a lingering bad taste in my mouth is the fact that he could simply have told me that his "mounting hardware" consisted of four hex nuts and washers that could be acquired at any hardware store!!! I'm sure that you, with your business acumen, would have done so!

BTW, I returned them to Kirk for $3.30 priority USPS mail instead of the $7 I was charged. I guess Jim, that's normal business mark up too?
Wow, Carl, that changes the entire equation. If I recalculate, Kirk must be making about $1.75/hour on a transaction like yours. I suggest that you contact the local District Attorney's Office in the California county in which VS is located. An egregious business violation such as you describe must warrant prosecution.
I recently spent $50 per parking light at VS,kinda high, even Mary double checked, but that's what it was and I'm not going to spend an hour or five to locate another set that may or may not work. They have the right stuff and even tho its pricey its correct and fits and I'm done.
In my biz I have people ask me to lower my price all the time, its ok to ask but I tell them if the cost is that important they should go to the cheaper guys. Its an open market!
