Hello Ladies & Gentlemen, its been a while since I have been on this forum. I have been busy building my replica 356 Speedster (since 2017, two years off for bad behaviour) . It is now ready for its IVA Test, and I am in the process of completing the paperwork application. I need some help with regard to the question regarding engine maximum power AND the engine speed at which it is attained. I don't have access to a rolling road, therefore I need the usual figures for my engine.

It is a 1776cc engine, custom built aluminium crankcase, big valve heads, & Engle 110 cam. Bosch alternator, Webber 40idf carbs, electronic ignition, Facet electric fuel pump, Freeway Flyer T1 gearbox.

Is anyone able to help? i really need approx values.

Many thanks in anticipation. ScottIMG_9360

@Scott356

It would help if you knew compression ratio, too, but I got this from a VW forum for type 2 stuff.  I don't know how specific the info/spec must be for the IVA folks, but here are the details and a chart for a reasonably built engine.  Your engine, with dual carbs, should be another 15-ish HP over this:

1776 dyno chart

New 1776 dual port, single 34 PICT-3, 28mm venturi, CB2239 cam, 1.25 rockers on intakes, CB center section, AA500 heads by Torben Alstrup, Ahnendorp exhaust.

79 bhp at 4500 RPM, 143NM at 2500 RPM. Nice flat curves. Still a bit rich.

Red curve is without the stock oil bath air cleaner. Much better air/fuel ratio.
