I've been contacted by a friend in my old car club in Beaufort, SC, about selling his car.

I see this as a good opportunity for those of us less financially endowed to get the car of their dreams and maybe put a little work into it over the winter to have a nice cruiser next Spring (provided the Holidays don't get in the way.)

Too far for Troy to travel and Alan has two in the works so this one might be just right for the "Mister fixer-upper" in you.

This is his write-up:

Vintage Speedster kit built in 1992 by a Hot Rod shop in SoCal

Engine built/installed in 1994

    1,600cc - Single carb (stock 1,600)

    External oil filter

Electric fuel pump

Drum brakes

Burgundy Exterior (Original)

Tan leather interior with black floor covering and mats (Don't think they're coco mats)

Canvas convertible top (black)

Tan Quarter tonneau behind seats

Black Side curtains

New Windshield installed in 2009 (by me)

Overall condition I would put at very good for an original 20-year-old car (and I'm fussy)

He's looking for $12K, you arrange for shipping.  If you live in the Southeast, you could drive it home - he drives it to local meets and such.

Located in Beaufort, South Carolina

Dialog me if you're interested and I'll put you in touch with him (Obviously, not ALL Speedster owners are on here!)

Shyt ! It's close enough for me. Al Merklin offered to buy my car and fix it up a month ago. This one would have made good $$$ sense for me to start another Soob project.

My car went into the body shop this morning here in town and I go in for a double hernia op on Monday. If this was a roadster........hmmmm.

To answer these posts, This is a Swing axle car.

I have responded to all received dialogs with the seller's contact info and will forward any others that I get as well.  The seller is interested in all received and will respond directly to emails or phone numbers received.

I am NOT involved with the actual selling of this car and have posted the ad because the seller is a friend but has never been a member of this forum.

Good luck, guys......I would really like to see this car go to a forum member.

Hmmm...  I think this is the same one being discussed in the Newbies forum.  the pictures there show quite a few issues such as a windshield that has pulled away from the body.  How long since you've seen this one, Gordon?

EDIT: Nope, not the same one.  Different license (although also SC) and exhaust.  This one appears to be in significantly better shape.

Geez, John -  I really had to dig to find a copy of that photo.  Taken in "Waterfront Park", Beaufort.  The park has now been vastly renovated and no car shows are allowed out there anymore.  This VS was one of the original three Speedsters in Beaufort (and probably the oldest).  The blue one went to Alan's paint guy who restored it after an accident and sold it and mine is, of course, no longer there.

There were two others, a black CMC and a gorgeous metallic-silver-gray VS.  The CMC is still in Beaufort and a good, 50-foot car but the Silver VS, don't know.  There was also a black Beck that went back to Bremen and was resold, as well as a GORGEOUS black/red interior 2332 Beck(?) Spyder (owned by a lady realtor who hated it).  NONE of those other owners were on the SOC.

Mickey: First, because I said so. And second, is because chicken-chasing is how we used to train back in the old days. If you can catch this thing, you can catch greased lighting.

Rocky: Well, I'll do it if you say so, but it ain't very mature.
