Estrella Warbirds Museum - Paso Robles

I have booked Saturday, July 10th for the Speedster Owners group to visit the Warbirds Museum in Paso Robles. The tour will start at 10:00 a.m. and we can eat lunch there as well. If we get at least 10 people we will get the reduced rate of $5 per person and an additional $7 for the lunch. That's a total of $12 per person.

Please let me know if you would be interested in attending. You can either post here or email me at warren-ap@charter.net. I will work with Howard to get reduced rates at one of the motels as well as the photo-op with airplanes in the background. By the way, would you like to stay in Paso or say Pismo or something. Pismo might be more fun, but probably more money. Also, Paso can be pretty warm in July. Let me know.

I was also thinking of having everyone stop by my place in Arroyo Grande on the way up for a little wine and goodie thing Friday night. Let me know if that sounds interesting to you.

Let's get lodging in Morro Bay for this event. Good location, better (cooler) weather and the hotel prices are better.

I know the Morro Bay meet is on our minds right now, but keep July 10th marked on your calendar for the Warbird's Museum. It should be a fun day. Let me know if you are thinking of joining us.

I spent all day Saturday at the Warbirds Museum Car Show. Had a great time and there is much to see. Race cars, airplanes, military stuff, etc. So far the following people have signed up:

It's all about the timing. I'm a possibility with my new IM-6. It would be a great test of the twin oil coolers to see if it handles the valley heat in mid summer.

WORKS FOR CARROL AND I

I just got off the phone with the Blue Sail Inn. They can't give us the same price as we had in April as July is their high season. They have 10 rooms together on the lower level, bay view with balcony, down the stairs. The group rate would be $135/per night for Friday and Saturday night. If we need more rooms, they think they will have a few across the street. Their deluxe rooms are $180/per night, if you're so inclined. They will let us use the Observation Room to gather. I will host some todeys for you weary travelers in that room. There is a cut off date for them to hold the rooms, so please let me know if you would like to do this ASAP.

I will work on dinner Friday night and see who can accomodate us, so again, I need a good count.

On Saturday, I thought we would gather down at the usual place by the Rock about 8:30 or 9:00 in preparation for a fun drive in the backwoods to the airport. We can eat lunch at the airport and then whatever after that. Maybe Cambria shopping, Morro Shopping, wine or whatever.

If we want to get together again Saturday for dinner, I will look for accomodations for that too. Or we can just do our own thing.

Please let me know if this suits everyone and whether I should proceed with the arrangements. So far we have:

Forgot to mention, one of the BOD and a docent for the Warbird museum is a former co-worker who said to let him know when we would like free tours or any other help out there. Maybe he can pull some strings for us.
