Hello all,
This is my first post. I'm selling my diablo replica and hopefully buying a 356 speedster. I was wondering if anyone had experience with evaporative coolers. I live in Texas in a hot, dry, climate. Thanks for any info and if anyone wants to trade a completed speedster for a lamborghini diablo project let me know. swoodard23@hotmail.com
Thanks,
Scott

You did not say what part of Texas. I lived in El Paso and an evaporative cooler worked fine. They depend on a closed in space to work and, obviously, lend moisture to the air. We called them swamp coolers.

As to using one in a golf cart. Hmmmmm. I remember when I was a kid, my dad had one that looked like an electro lux vacuum cleaner. It hung outside the car window and worked like a ram jet. He would load it with ice and the wind would be forced through it by the speed of the car and, viola as they say, cool air was blown into the car. Of course it was a bitch to stop every 20 miles or so for ice. :)

And yes, I am old

I used one years ago in a 56 Buick, it was great. I was stationed at Edwards AFB in California's Mojave desert. Temps often hit well over 100 degrees and that cooler was worth its weight in gold. Used every summer and while driving across New Mexico on the way to Denver. Wish I still had it so my daughter could use it in her car rather than spending a grand or more fixing her A/C.
