Exhaust for 356 Vintage Speedster

Carey Hines at Special Edition (info@beckspeedster.com) is selling these exhausts -- they are $1000 in raw steel, $1250 ceramic coated. I am not sure if this will work with your Type 4 engine or not, but I am certain that Carey can help you with this. The headers for my Spyder, for example, we fabricated at Carey's shop.

Georg's in Europe, and the link he put up sends me to a Type 4 tuning shop advertising high-end 2.8L engines. I don't know what he's got, but I really, really doubt it's "low or moderate HP Type 4". Germans typically don't mess around.

Morning at all I become a typ 4 engine with 140 PS and 2.1 liter not 2.8 or like this I bought this kind because my 1.950 ccm with maybe 90 PS was broken after 1.850 km It was a original from vintage but when I open it to see what all is broken it was only a 1.8.... and I think no 90 PS The price here in germany for a new typ 1 in the same condition is similar so for a better performance with not so much tuning I got the typ 4 (it will be cost 10.000€ as a complete engine) You see also the old exhaust in the pictures and this was a tri-mil but only for show I think My tuner makes normal beetle and so he have only exhaust systems for this kind. It will be cost also 950€ and more or less + 500€ to build such one to a single muffler I want. So for a performance engine you need also a good exhaust to make it round. To look at the ventil it will be better that the exhaust will be not in front of them so the kind of exhaust I link do this I want also a engine which run 160 km/h in sommer all the time on the motor way at long distance and have no problems with the heat It will be in 7 sec at 100 km/h and in the end about 190 km/h )) So i think I can have fun if I want Thx Georg

Hello it will be a little tricky Carey from beekspeedsters write me back that the exhaust come from tiger A1 and give me the adress. I write to tiger but still now no answear about the exhaust. Have tiger a homepage? I don't found one only other shops but this shops most sell the sidewinder .... But also only typ 1 so far because I have no responce if there do this for a typ 4 Have anybody messure the db of the exhaust at half of the max rpm of the car - means how loud does it is? Thx Georg

If Tiger doesn't have an exhaust for a Type-4, I believe that CSP has a version of their Python that will fit.

They have dual or single exit exhaust and a heat exchanger option.  Costly but nice quality.

I bought a Python to see the effect on HP.  I got 14 more hp with Tigers A-1 than the Python which was a surprise--- both were dynoed on my car at Jake's.  The A-1 is great plus you don't have to remove it to check/adjust the valves.

Hello I know that CSP have a exhaust for a typ 4 and some more also but the challenge is to have a single muffler and you doesn't remove them to check the velves like jack say The pyton looks also not nice at a 356 speedster because it must be the double muffler or for the sportiver version like a gt a single oval muffler in the middle So a question to mango have you some photos from the exhaust with the typ 4 - i hope so because i saw a lot of pictures from your car You can send it with email - i hope this will function otherwise write here back and i will post the adress Thx Georg

Hello Mango the problem with the middle muffler like the first picture of me is the same with your exhaust i think because you can put it only at the side or think i false? Georg

with a sidewinder - there would be no room to put a muffler between the header and where the tip comes out.

 

you could fab up something to look like that though.  Same tip/dimensions/size/location.
