As most of you know, I'm a newbie (and mechanically challenged). I've only taken Oscar out twice. After my first cruise, I noticed at the end of the day I reeked like exhaust and had a pretty severe headache. After a short drive today I noticed the same thing, only not as severe. Is this normal?

The car is running a little rich...so my question to all of you is, could this be the problem or do I need to take it to a muffler shop and have the exhaust tips extended?

I have it scheduled to go into the shop later this week for an oil chance and tune up...THOUGHTS?

I will tell you another thing, I had a buddy in high school who had a bug, and the heater box/ exhaust manifold was leaking, blowing it in to the car when the heater was pulled on. I have a CMC with basically a custom vintage speed( not vintage speedsters) exhaust, and I get some fumes with the top up. It's not bad, but I definitely get a little bit of exhaust in with the top up. I'm a little rich, and when it gets warm, will adjust that out. I'm certainly not saying its normal, but it's an open air, carbed, air cooled low efficiency engine.
It seems doubtful that your problem with exhaust gasses is caused by too short a pipe after the muffler. Thousands of replicas have pipes that end just like yours, many well before the bumper. If you have a local muffler shop near you, contact them and explain your symptoms. They'll put it on a rack, and search for the cause of what sounds like an exhaust gas leak in your system.
