Exhaust header and muffler for my speedster

I currently have an EMPI header with 2 mufflers with chrome tips... I'd like to try something different...any ideas? thanks for all the info I've gotten from all of you...

First of all, what carb size are you running??

Oh, and knowing what your cam is would help, too.

I know you've got an 1835, so we'll go from there.

I have 44 Dells, not sure about the cam, I bought the car used and don't have any info on the engine

A1 Sidewinder seems to be the best choice these days.

Bob - for visual reference, here's a pic of an A-1 Sidewinder on my VS. Sounds great without being too loud cruising at highway speeds. I've since added a chrome tip (bought at Pep Boys).

Thanks for the pics Jim, Are you still able to get to the valve cover without removing the muffler?

Bob - as you can see, the extractor collector is oriented so that it flows to the starboard/passenger side of the car which allows for easy access to remove the 3 bolts. Then unbolt a hanger on the top of the MagnaFlow muffler...less than 10 minutes total. Easy valve-cover access.

Bob- do a search on here for A-1 Performance, Sidewinder model. The shop doesn't have a web-site (amazing) but if you contact the proprietor, Tiger (no, not THAT Tiger) he is very helpful and a cool guy all around.

This model is available as a 'center' outlet or 'dual' outlet. Tiger will do whatever tweeking you need to give you the exhaust you want.

Jim, your center pipe looks very nice. Henry does something similar on new IMs. Probably the same exhaust system.

Poor design I have Sidewinder Exhaust mounted on my Speedster every time I have to adjust valves on the Passenger side of the motor I have to take off the Muffler.

You can get it made with a quick release band clamp at the collector so it is a snap.

David - BwaaaaaaaHaaaaaaaa...Oil drip pan with kitty litter. Just in case any oil drips onto my garage floor. Some old habits are just TOO hard to break.

I am running the A-1, rear exhaust on my Beck as well. Removing the stinger is not hard at all. It's actually easier than adjusting the valves, in my opinion. The only thing I don't like about it on my car is that my car sits pretty low, so I have to be careful going over bumps and dips. Other than that, I love the sound.

David-- just ordered an A-1 from Tiger. He has a new model that is made for a Speedster replica with an upright tYpe IV. He said thyat there is no need to touch the muffler or hangers to adjust the valves.

I don't know if this applies to Type Is or not but suspect it does.

tiger was super helpful and included a bung for the AFR so I can install the AFR meter permanently.

Bob - the SideWinder I have utilizes the heater box j-tubes. I had the j-tubes flanged so that there would be a better heater box flange-to-exhaust flange connection instead of the typical clamp used in this connection.
