I'm having a 2007 built up for the Porsche and when we slipped on a stock exhaust so I can run heater boxes it choked out the motor (110hp). We switched out the exaust to a HP system and did 130hp. Here's were it gets bad. We picked up a new exhaust, installed the motor and the exhaust doesn't fit, it hangs too low. It looks like we might need a sidewinder exhaust. Who has had a good sysle that fits right that isn't custom made? Pics and links would be great.

Thank you,
Chris

Naw..can't help you with a pic cause the whole thing is painted flat black. Lane....I know my description is lame but here's the scoop. I installed the EJ22 Soob and bought some aftermarket fancy schmancy two into four merged headers that turned out to be too low anyway. Please keep in mind I've still got less than $12K into this car, have put 23,000 miles on it in the last 18 months and recently convered to an EJ22 Soob engine. I cobbled together a couple of exhaust combinations at home and discovered that many Soob engines over a large number of years are quite compatible with interchange of parts. So, further searching brought me to a cast iron (steel?) turbo STI ( I think the TI part is turbo intercooler ) exhaust header system. The Soob uses two into one on each side in this case with a "crossover" inbetween. The receiving end ( right side of car with engine in backwards ) of all gasses from the left bank does a U turn which points the collected exhaust up and in a bit but heading mostlty rearward. I had an el cheapo Cherrybomb muffler on hand for the experiment. The turbo ( which I don't have installed )gets fed from the "up pipe" which was given to me. I cut the flange off that, clocked it about 1/5 turn and welded it to the Cherry bomb and we're done. The exhaust points pretty much straight out the back, down just a bit too much for my likes. Flat black again, no chrome. It's loud and the car goes like stink compared to my 1915. I don't race or burn rubber. It's intended for travelling. Here's the latest pic of the engine instead. It's a low bux driver, Lads...not a show queen.

I did find a partial exhaust pic this morning. This view is from the right side looking to the left. The left exhaust header is a two into one heading forward. It joins a crossover pipe which goes around the front of the oil pan and then joins into the right header which heads forward and then immediately turns a 180 to the rear. You can see it in the picture. It has a flange on it to which the turbo up pipe would be attached. I have no turbo so I just bolted on a cheap Cherry bomb muffler slightly modified heading straight out the back. Total cost..$75. The lowest point is the oil pan and it is 5 3/4" off the ground. When the car is loaded it goes down about 3/4". Just inside the left rear wheel you can see the aluminum coolant tubes heading to the front mounted rad.

Don't jump to conclusions yet, Ed. All is not road proven. I'm leaving for Key West, Fl on Wednesday and we'll come up to Carlisle after that and head home North after that. Everyting is running well for the last 1,500 miles but the cooling system hasen't seen hot weather. Total cost of my conversion is around $3K. If you're coming to Carlisle get a grip on me and I'll explain how I did it.
