I have searched for exhaust related topics and have learned a lot about several recommended exhaust systems such as the A1 sidewinder but dont have the money to invest in one and want a bit more clearance.
I currently have this system (http://www.jbugs.com/product/2564-13w2031-10.html?Category_Code=vw-bug-super-beetle-mufflers-headers-system) which has been modified to fit but where the PO did some welding, I am experiencing exhaust leaks. I love the sound but the clearance is aweful.
I understand this high mount (http://www.jbugs.com/product/3650-3682.html?Category_Code=vw-bug-super-beetle-mufflers-headers-system) fits very well but heard you will lose HP, how much? how does it sound?
I am also interested in the GT exhaust (http://www.jbugs.com/product/3417.html?Category_Code=vw-bug-super-beetle-mufflers-headers-system)but am worried about fit as my rear is lowered a couple of clicks. Will I lose HP as well? How does it sound?

Any opinions and comments needed!

Thanks.

Spencer, it is important to know what size/ set-up is your motor. If it is a small displacement and no big valve/cam/ head work you could go with what we call a TriMill exhaust. Lots of new Vintag Speedsters use them and they are cheap. They are a little on the loud side though. If you want a classic sound I have a real 356 muffler that has VW round port flanges welded on. I ran it on my 160CC 40MM Weber Carbed motor for 20,000 miles. It is in good condition and I will give it to you for the shipping cost.
