I have 2006 VS model, just purchased. I was noticing the exhaust system, it blocks valve covers. i'm not going to be able to access valves, in order to adjust them without taking off muffler system.

I definitely don't want to take off exhaust system each time to adjust valves, Can anyone reccommend a different style or Does Kirk at Vintage make a new style that allows for adjusting valves without taking off exhaust.

My muffler also sits beside my valve cover (not an A1 exhaust system), but it gives me enough room to adjust the valves without taking off the muffler.  I do have to undo the two bolts that hold the rubber strap and swing the strap out of the way.

So it really depends on how close the muffler is to the valve cover.

The car still runs good though, I did notice an exhaust leak at the clamp you see in the first two pictures i posted. The clamp nearest to the heater hose clamp. I did tighten it but it still leaks. will this cause a backfire.

If you have an exhaust leak, the car WILL backfire.

It will run fine on acceleration but pop and even throw sparks out the pipe of there is even the slightest exhaust leak.

And no, you don't have to hear it to know you got one

My old superbeetle could shoot foot long blue flames out the tailpipes.

He also added a bung for my AFR (at no extra charge.)  Great guy.

Did he also install heater boxes with your exhaust system, or did you opt to go without.
