I did a search on exhaust systems and a few other phrases and in my searchs have come up with references to tri mil type 11. Does the type 11 exhaust fit the speedster better?
The type 1 style exhausts are designed to fit in the bug tailpipe hole. Are the type 11 style lower?

Getting ready to lose the 20 year old Monsa 4 tip for a empi quiet pack or something inexpensive for now. Don't think I want to go with the A-1 sidwinder yet.
Going down to Vee Parts in Chula Vista tomorrow am to see what they have on the shelf.

Thanks
Dave

OK egg on my face! On further reading and searching I see that dual carb engines do not use the pre heat connection. All I had to do is to open the engine lid and saw that the existing monza exhaust has cover plates on the pre heat flange. Duh! This tri-tip is going on tomorrow. I might have to trim just a little of the apron for fit but that is better than going to the local exhaust shop Hanson's in San Diego. I called them up and they tried to give me an appointment time a week out, like at the dentist. I mentally added about $300 to $400 to what I expected to pay. I would rather bolt on myself anyway.
Thanks
Ricardo
I remember reading that the single carb setup was originally designed to have a heater surround for the intake manifold because that's what Dr. Porsche figured would provide the most efficient de- or anti-icing mechanism for the tiny little Solex.
That was on Porsche Type 60 (that later evolved into the Beetle), and for whatever reason, the company never changed that design on single-carb Type Is.
