I'm in the process of dropping an 2275 SCAT motor into my new speedster. I'm still looking for an exhaust system that will let it breathe and sound great. I'd like it to sound like a 911 with an extra snarl. I know, I need more cylinders and a bigger fan. Regardless, soft but nasty is the sound. I don't want "look at me" loud, or pucketa-pucheta VW stocker sounds. Any photos of systems, types of mufflers, size, manufacturer, position etc. Help me save a year of buying tin cans that don't work for me. Thanks for any help.

Get a 1/34" merged "Sidewinder" system from A-1 Muffler in California; it dumps through a 2 1/2" Dynomax muffler. Doesn't protrude in the rear, makes excellent power, and sounds great. The tail pipe and muffler will have to be fitted "on the car" by your local muffler shop and muffler ground clearance is a bit close.

Alternately, you could get the Sidewinder header and adapt another aftermarket muffler.
George, thanks for the help. I've reading lots of old postings since I sent this and I'm totally floored that someone hasn't found the "perfect system". Everyone seems to have the same problems. Your system is one of the nicest I've seen.
Is the sound quiet but a little nasty with that one big can?
My biggest problem which you wisely solved with the gas heater is keeping my fiance warm with those stock heater boxes.
I'll probably go your direction if the sound isn't too loud.
Let me know.
At least from a Carlisle perspective of following George for a few blocks, it has a nice burble at idle and rumbles through moderate acceleration.......not too loud at all for cruising around town. Can't vouch for the noise when you tromp the throttle and really get on it, but the low/mid note should amplify into a growly bark when you get on it, if it's like my exhaust. In fact, I thought it sounded a lot like my Berg dual quiet pack in the low and mid-range, although I have a bit of a drone between 2K and 2500 rpm which gets much quieter over 3 grand. When you get on it, it really barks.
