It's a Pre A  54 or 55...

Yeah, that dash looks Pre-A. Didn't that style banjo steering wheel disappear about then as well? I thought that was about the time they went to three prong from two.

I've seen 56's and 7's with that wheel but couldn't say if original...

Desert Fox, you are correct, it's a '54 or '55. 

When Porsche switched from the 3 spoke (banjo), they went to  the 2 spoke wheel which was used until the B's (and C's) black 3 spoke wheel was introduced in 1960.

Speedsters had the option of the horn-ring but stripped-down models came with the 2 spoke sans horn-ring like this one, which I prefer.

Here's a nice '57 Speedster Carrera GS dash, wheel has the horn ring. Wheel looks ivory in this photo but it actually matches the knobs and is an extremely rare grey.

I had one of those banjos on my '56 Coupe.  Hated it, as was very flexible and I thought it was just too old fashioned (what did I know??) And back in that day (the '60s) all the rage was a Nardi.  Well, I was pretty poor then, and a Nardi was pretty rich, so it never happened.

Me too  I had that wheel with the horn ring on my orig 59 356A coupe I liked it very much and I actually liked the large size.  Still thinking that maybe someday I'll add it to mine   Hey did you notice the key is upside down
