Those headlight grills might not ever come off.
I can't imagine drilling holes in my plastic car's nose, let alone an American Roadster, so rare!

Race car are not and never have been show cars. They are put together, and sometimes in pits, for one thing, WINNING.....
Drill holes where needed.

I don't think anybody is arguing with you. It would seem that this car has morphed into at least a part time show car. Surprised that it lacks a roll bar, and the paint looks pretty fresh.
Back then no one had roll bars.
