This is the correct placement for '57 and later.  Many (most?) Speedster replicas have the speedo and combo gauge swapped because the Beetle speedo cable isn't quite long enough.

On what Lane said, if you want to have the speedo on the right in your replica, you have to get a Super Beetle speedo cable.  it is about 3" longer if I remember correctly.  I did the swap on my VS.

Really really nice thanks. The steering wheel really pops against the two colors.

I've had a few black cars and they need a different interior color to black or grey in my opinion to look their best. Red, tan, blue can all look fantastic (and won't burn you azz as easily in the sun )
