Pete, From your website, it appears you stretched the body to accommodate a wheelbase of 98 in. (Corvette) from the original 93 in. used on the DB4GT Zagato. I also noted that you pulled the body from an original Zagato. Having never worked with fiberglass, I was wondering what type of challenge this presents to the fiberglass guy to make this type of conversion and maintain the body lines. Have you ever considered making a replica using the original 93 in. wheelbase and other running gear?

BTW, did you ever find a new windshield for your Envemo?
We tried a shorther chassis but using the corvete set up it put the chevy distributor under the dash . The strech is easy just cut keep parts aligned and add some glass.Yes I got a windshield , went to a fellow vintage racers shop today with a few gearheads met there for lunch and I got a another 15 1/5 inch tall 356 glass we are modifing the body so the glass will fit .Best part was Chuck Beck Joined us for lunch

Dinner Arrangements for Friday, October 10th

We are at the Trailhead Steakhouse, Townsend at 7 PM
This is the same restaurant we dined at last year on
Friday evening. Hally, the hostess I spoke w/ today was very
accomodating, as I told her our group would be between
10 - 16 folks.

The restaurant is located less than one mile from the Talley Ho Inn
at 7839 East Lamar Alexander Parkway in Townsend. This was the site last year of Lane's famous Hoopty Brake Test.

Questions for the restaurant: 865-448-0166
Ok, folks, I invited a non-P-car friend who's coming on his Harley. I think he may be bringing friend of his who really wants one of these cars, and who may be looking for some right-seat privileges to try some cars on for size. I haven't gotten confirmation on him yet, though.

Either way, my buddy with the Harley is trying to get into the Tally Ho. We'll see if they have any rooms left.
On Saturday morning, we should be meeting at the intersection of Rt. 321 and the Foothills Parkway at about 9:30 in the A.M. This is a little different than what we did last year, driving all the way to Maryville and meeting at the Texaco. I realized that you guys were missing a really nice stretch of road by bypassing this parkway. Gordon has been on about half of it a couple of years ago.

I'll go over this again at the Friday night dinner, but to get to the rally point, turn left out of the motel parking lot and drive on Rt. 321 about 15 - 20 minutes to the parkway. It is clearly marked on your left. Sarah and I and possibly Sean and Shelly will be meeting you there.

Gettin' close. WOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOO!
Hoss
OK, Lane, you've got the great mind. So who is the other one? We are so close to this run I can almost taste it. Our vintage vehicles car club in my village did a similar run a couple of weeks ago, including the stop at Tapoco Lodge. This is one thing I just can't get enough of. WOOOOOO HOOOOO!
Hoss
ps. I didn't get another ticket....;-)....and yes, I was leading the pack
Ok, who's up for caravanning into Townsend from the east on Friday the 10th? I can leave Asheville at any time, and I expect I'll meet up with Gordon and Kathy along the way. Jack, I seem to remember that you would be coming from the east as well. Is that still the case? Tom, I believe I recall a similar possibility for you. Anyone else?

We have a couple of choices of scenic routes from Asheville/Waynesville into the park, and thence to Townsend. Weather permitting, it should be a nice drive.
For Friday Night, it appears that we have 17 for dinner at The Trailhead

Gas is still very much an issue in Western Carolina & East Tennessee. And as most of us like to run premium, and we all have a range of 200 miles or less per fillup, I am asking Hoss to research the location of suitable pit stops over the weekend.
I suggest that everyone arrive at the rally point with a full tank. There are gas stations in Townsend. If there is a problem with that, I will suggest that we change the route and meet at last year's rally point in Maryville at the Texaco. We can decide this Friday night at dinner.

We should be able to top off at Deal's Gap if anybody needs to. First alternate to that is to go into Robbinsville and fill up there. The next possible gas stop, after our lunch stop, is the Ma & Pa place where we stopped briefly near the beginning of the Skyway.

After that, the next gas stop possibility will be in Tellico Plains where they several major brand stations. Those taking Rt. 360 back to Townsend by way of Vonore will find major brand stations in Vonore.

Once again, there do not currently seem to be shortages around our area of any grade of gas. I hope that this remains true.
I will need a final headcount which I will take at the Trailhead on Friday night and then relay the information to Tapoco Lodge via their 800 number. Since it is the weekend, their representative wanted a firm count for our Saturday luncheon. He, Dustin, has been very friendly and helpful and is looking forward to seeing us again.
He ought to be happy to see all of us auld pharts again......

Considering the eclectic and colorful motorcycle crowd just up the street at Deal's Gap who might consider stopping in.......

Although thinking back on all the smiles, waves and "Cool Car!" comments we all got when we pulled out of Deal's Gap through a crowd of a couple of hundred bikers, not to mention the "folks" who wandered over to look at the cars and say "hi!", they were a pretty decent bunch. Colorful characters, to be sure, but decent - especially that one-legged guy on the trike who parked near us; If you don't have a foot to put on the trike's footboard, then mount your tool box there!
