Fan belt type for the DTM kit?

Teresa will be taking the Sloppy Jalopy in for a freshening up, and I can't frigging remember whether it's a Type I belt or not.
Can somebody refresh my memory?

Isn't the size and ID on the belt?

A Google search says Jake Raby indicates its "a 10x925 - a Volvo part". Was going to say - what you don't keep a spare in the trunk? - then it hit me, what trunk!

Scott, the belt's so worn on the outer surface that I couldn't read it if I was actually standing right in front of it. She's taking the car to a Porsche shop, so they might know, but they won't stock VW belts.
I think it's a Type I belt, but I'm not sure. I remember that the spare I was carrying wouldn't have worked, and it was for a VW of some description.

If she's near Springfield Sunday - Darell, Darell and D... I mean Dale, Bill and I can swap it out for her. There's an Advance Auto just up road that carries Dayton belts (although I prefer Gates). They have a tool for measuring them too (once they are off).

(I searched the Dayton and Gates equivalents and couldn't get a match, which is ridiculous, but a good shop can measure the belt as previouly suggested) BTW, absolutely loved that "Sidewinder missile" pic posted.

If she's taking it in to a Porsche shop, they can remove the existing belt, take it to a NAPA store (or equivalent) where they put the old one onto a "V-Belt Sizing tool" behind the counter and tell you what the dimensions are.

Then they sell you a new, spare belt and it'll fit.

The tool tels them width across the flat of the back and overall circle (they stretch it slightly to get an accurate length).

We sell the belts in our store, but any parts store should be able to cross the dimension of 10X925 into something they have thats the equivelant.

Its not a special belt, I have bought them locally many times.

Cory-glad you've tracked it down. I don't know if there any subtle dimensional differences in the DTM fan shroud or "power pulleys" involved here. But I assume there would (or should) be a standard available p/n. It's all in the details, right!? Good luck.
Remember to "suck 'em up" during those hard landings. Look at that pic again, you'll get it! (I thought you were the source of that picture, but no matter it's a great picture)
Add - just saw the above post after I composed this. Dimension seems to be confirmed. Maybe Jake can dig up a Gates (or like) p/n or provide info where to buy "locally".

That's what I'll suggest Teresa pick up, anyway.
It's Jake's pulley on the engine, and VW's on the alternator. If that's what he recommends, that's what we'll go with.

Thanks everyone! I'm going to pick up TWO belts from a local mom-and-pop parts store.

I think the concern with the Porsche shop was that it may have been a hard-to-find part, and if we waited until Monday to find that out, it may have been too late. Turns out, this was a relatively easy one! Since time is short, I want to be as prepared as I can be!

Now it seems this thread is concluding, but I've just got to ask the question: what is the part, part number, and mfg? (That way, people who have a similar engine configuration can be referred back to this thread for an answer without jumping through all these hooptys, I mean hoops)

All my DTM shrouds for the Type 4 engine use the same belt with the dimensions of 10X925,meaning 10mm wide and 925mm long) regardless of manufacturer. This dimension can be given to a local parts store and they can cross it to their numbering system very easily. The belt doesn't have to come from me and few people order them from us, thats why an easy to find, standard belt was used in the kit composition.

I have even bought them at Ace Hardware before in my little town of less than 1,000.
