The following is edited info From Bruce Tweddle that was posted on the CLF. Bruce lives in Canada and is the VW "ZF LSD King".

"The OEM supplier to Ford is Gates. I have not found a source for
Gates belts with the name Gates on it without the strength robbing
cogs. So I get mine at the Ford dealer labeled Motorcraft. For an alternator belt get JB-361L. For a generator belt, JA-357."

Useful if you're stranded with a broken belt near a Ford dealer. Personally, I like the cogged Gates belts.

ZF stands for Zunderflugen (sp?, a German company), and LSD means limited slip differential. The ZF units were used in VW type 181 (Thing, or jeep), and were optional on Porsches, Mercedes Benzes, etc. Similar to the American positraction LSD's, e.g., uses clutches that engage under certain conditions to transfer power to the wheel with best traction.

Bruce buys/sells ZF LSD's and parts as a sideline.
