there's a strong chance that i am going to pick this up. it's kiiiind of like a speedster so maybe i can still be invited on a run.
No worries Annaliese. Trust me on this. You could be driving an Dodge Neon and these guys will welcome you on run!

hahahaha thanks troy. i drove my speedster to huntington beach today and fell in love with it all over again butttt. well you all know. i'll get another one in the future if i get rid of my current one.
even seeing the other two today i was like "god damn my car is pretty." =)
Annaliese, if you're considering an older Boxster, do yourself a favor and google "boxster intermediate shaft".
Hopefully, this fix has already been done to the car you're looking at, but if not, it's something to think about - or could be a way to argue for a lower price. The fix for the intermediate shaft problem is pretty straightforward and if done in time is not a big deal. But if the bearing fails, it could take out the whole engine.
Aside from this one weakness, Boxsters are great, reliable cars, if somewhat expensive to maintain.
With the trouble you've had with the Speedster, I know this is the last thing you want to hear, but better you hear about it now than after it causes you more grief.
I think everyone here wants to see you in a ride you're happy with. Cheers!
- Mitch
there are noooo problems with this boxster. the guy who owns it is a major gear head.
it's immaculate. i have toy ADD. i will probably stuff my garage and drive way full of cars over the next 18 months.
if anyone else is interested in the specs:
It has the 3.2 flat 6 cyl. That's where similarities of other Boxsters ends. This one has been modified rather heavily. But built for reliability. Everything from the body, suspension, interior, to the engine have been upgraded/updated. With the mods it really sounds like a modern day GT3. Exotic sounding, not obnoxious.
Body:
GT3 front bumper - Painted Arctic Silver Metallic
GT3 side skirts - Painted Arctic Sliver Metallic
Gemballa lower dam chin spoiler
Custom made Euro license plate made for the front
Upgraded HID head lights. Not the cheap light bulbs. The entire headlight house was upgraded.
Interior:
GT3 style interior with the GT3 center console delete. More room this way and allows you to focus on the manual gear box.
Gemballa style gauges.
Full custom Alcantara and leather interior done with double red stitching.
AVS aftermarket racing steering wheel wrapped in Alcantara with double red stitching. With the dual horns and airbag functional. This was done right!!
Hard wired for Valentine radar detector. The best on the market. The connector is in the middle of the dash in between the windshield and the dash.
Redline racing aluminum pedals. Not just the pedals. The full system with connectors and everything. I think that's what they're called.
Redline racing foot rests - both driver and passenger.
Track ready fire extinguisher. Nice touch.
Engine:
K&N Cold Air intake with diverter
Gemballa headers
R.O.W cat back exhaust with Gemballa tips
Custom ECU tune
B&M short throw shifter
Suspension and brakes
Eibach Springs
R.O.W Bilstein shocks
R.O.W upgraded sway bars
Upgraded cross drilled rotors all the way around.
Brembo brakes
Upgrade brake pads.
Wheels:
18x9 front and 18x10 rears - Custom made light weight CCW rims. No offset spacers needed, hence the custom. These are one of the lightest rim available for this car.
Micheline Pilot Sport Cup II tires all around - about 85% to 90% left on the tires.
Annaliese, Cant go wrong with a Boxster, I sold my 2007 to make room for the Intermeccanica. Murphy's law decided to have the drivers side power seat module go out just before it was sold. $890.00 later it was fixed. Great car for sure, but Porsche parts are super expensive.
It sounds really nice, but as Mitch said, ask if the intermediate shaft repair has been done. It will cost a lot of money if it isn't caught in time.
An unless you do the work yourself on a modded car - a Porsche dealer will have difficulty maintaining it (as they don't stock the parts and are unsure what mods actually are). Insurance should take a big blip up too over a 1600cc 4 cylinder.
Yes, modified cars are great if you are the one who did the modifications, and know where every special part came from.
Standard dealers can't or won't always tackle issues with cars that have been modified. They will be concerned about getting into an issue that can lead them somewhere they don't want to go, or don't know where to go.
So, you will have to find out where this car can be serviced, which I assume you should be able to do before you make the deal.
If I were looking for a Boxster or S2000 the car would have to be stock. I've found, over the years, that every time you mod a car to gain something (power, handling, etc.) you lose something in the process.
i'm sure should i take ownership of this car that there is already a mechanic who is very familiar with it who i could continue to take it to. =)
Do you have anymore photos of the Boxster?
Looks cool.
boxster has never really been on my list of cars that i am dying to own but this one was done right. all of the work was done at the porsche dealership or with porsche specialists and it's immaculate. it sounds like a turbo. air sucking sound on the exhaust. pretty sexy.
Annaliese, whatever you do, don't ask these guys what kind of wheels you should put on it.
I'd roll it.
