The tubular sender from the Ghia will work fine and is cheaper then the one out of a 914, but looks entirely similar.

The benefit to the 914 sender, and the reason that they cost more (other than the Porsche part number) is that they include a sender/terminal for the "low fuel" light in the combination gauge. This is REALLY kind of a plus.

If you can source a 914 tubular sender and can afford the coin, the "low fuel" light would be a cool addition.

Luck ! !

Oh, where do you live? I have three good Ghia gas tanks, you're welcome to one if you can use it, I just don't wanna ship it and you don't wanna pay for the shipping.

I'm in South Coastal Massachusetts where it's all about the clams Man . . . it's ALL about the CLAMS!
FP, do you know if the ghia tubular sender ( or the 914 w/low light ) will fit the CIP 14 gal gas tank and register somewhere near correctly? Same bolt pattern? Do both work with the Vintage gas gauge ( resistance wise ) for the guage to read close to right?
Thxs... yup clams & LOBSTERS here in Maine!

rich, here it is, youll need the cap and gaskets and maybe some "goop" for the gaskets. i put the sending unit from old tank in and it reads empty at 9 gallons(duh), i go about 325-350 miles and fill up, usually requiring about 12 gallons with about 3 still in tank.
