Mark My name is Jarrod and I talked with Dusty I'll take your ticket and Dusty said he will hook me up with another one. I live in San Bernadino so I'll be rolling to the Torrance Starbucks to jump on the train. You can call me and I'll work out the payment with you directly or pay you at Starbucks. Thanks and I'll talk with you soon. 909-238-5557
Vince,
the management asked that no one be in the banquet room without a ticket. Sorry. We cannot feel too bad for the stragglers as they have had 4 months of warnings and notices. If they were allowed to make last minute decisions it would not be fair to those of you who were timely and concerned enough to make this work for everyone. If there are any last minute attendees I am sure they will have lots of time to enjoy with all of us at the other meals, drives and parade.

Happy Trails,
Dusty
Vince,
I hope this is just your way of blowing off steam. The reason for prepayment of the banquet is to guarantee a specific number of dinners. The management needs a minimum to operate and any excess dinners made would cut their profit margin and they could not offer the service. A properly prepare the meal for a group this size is planned and prepared days prior to our event.

To secure this venue I had to prepay a substantial amount and YOU, as members of the SOC, have supported that. "Stragglers" did NOT support our group and their attendance without preplanning says they have little regard for the unification of the whole. If it is important to you to allow "gate crashers" go ahead, but I warn you that this facility will close us out in the future. Think about it, their position is reasonable.

Now, try to find another place as convenient, inexpensive and appropriate to our needs in Morro Bay. Come on, guys, I have put in a lot of time and work arranging things for a fun and seamless weekend. Don't mess it up by getting on your high horse. If you don't like the way things are working I encourage you to step up to the plate and make all the arrangements next year yourself. I guarantee there are lots of things you haven't thought out.

Take a deep breath and relax. This is going to be a great weekend with lots of fun with old and new friends. This event has become a tradition that many other car groups envy.

See you there.

Happy Trails,
Dusty
As good stragglers, Dale Bates and I have figured out a way to get to Morro Bay and see all you guys. So if anyone has 2 extra tickets, or 2 people with an extra ticket each, we would be honored if we could join you for dinner Saturday night. Otherwise, I guess we'll just order pizza and eat it on the sidewalk out front...
If anyone has an extra ticket you may share it any way you like, however, just sharing a DINNER might cause a problem with the management. I have paid for a number of attendees and any additional body count will be charged to ME at a higher rate. Sorry, guys, rules are NOT made to be broken and I am doing my best to keep peace with everyone (read: new restaurant management). I have passed on the requirements from the restaurant and, I hope, made it perfectly clear. If you want to change the way things are done please refer to my earlier post. I don't appreciate snide titles and insolent personal emails about what I am doing. This is a fun time and a very small number of SOCers are making this a real pain in the a$$ for me. If you don't approve ... don't come!

If there are going to be unused tickets please let me know immediately and I will help you move them to others and get you reimbursed. Otherwise I will try to work out something last minute for our Canadian friends. Help me out here with some postings giving me information.

MUSBJIM may be driving Jose's Taco Cart yet !!

Happy Trails,
Dusty
Dusty - all your hard work on this simply reinforces the adage "no good deed goes unpunished."

However, IF Ron Leonard & Dale Bates (or any other late folks) could participate in the Saturday dinner as last-minute add-ons, do you think the restaurant could accommodate them on a cash-at-the-door basis? Seems like that might be good for the restaurant and good for our extra guys.

Not trying to make trouble, just suggesting a possible solution.
John,
Sorry, no Cash-at-the-Door. See my earlier comments and explanations.

Trust me, I will make this work the best possible way for all involved. Everything else for the weekend can be "Last Minute" (except hotel reservations, of course) but not the banquet meal. That is not an unusual stance for any restaurant preparing a large number of meals for a group to be served at one time.

Anyone else want to weigh in on this one? Please read the foregoing posts. Even I am tired of reading this repeated over and over.

Dusty

Dusty--hang in there buddy and you are right to stick to your guns. All was explained way up front so therre should be no surprises now.

I really want to Attend Morrow Bay next year and do plan to drive. Surely someone would like to drive their car with me.

I guess you already know the 5 stages of a project:

1. Initial euphoria
2. Creeping dissolusionment
3. Search for the guilty
4. Punish the innocent
5 Reward the uninvolved

Sad but true. Sounds like you have pulled together a wonderful program and I wish I were going to be there this year. Let's see lots of pictures!---Jack
